Because he was in too much of a hurry to save us all from the impending "scam" that we were all going to fall victim to.
In all seriousness, I don't believe he ever really thought there was anything devious to what Ben was doing. I think he simply felt like this was his opportunity to blow the whistle and look like a hero, not realizing that all he was blowing was his own credibility here at Meso.
This seemed like nothing more than a scramble to grab some notoriety/recognition off of Ben's name.
Just my take...
I haven't been around long enough to know the deep back stories and long histories of the long time members but from a purely surface perspective, That was my opinion by the end of the first page. Then there was so much skin invested an admittance of being wrong, from his perspective, probably felt less manly. Although it would have been the more stand up thing to do. When the world is telling you you're wrong and you're saying "no world, i'm right and your wrong", it's one of two things.
