FYI to new members

I figured I would post this here since the subject relates to new members.
Do....NOT... send messages to random members asking for a source! Are you that lazy that you are unable to perform a simple word search? Since you were able to find this forum and set up an account, I will assume that you are not illiterate. There is a search function on this site for a reason. I am getting tired of receiving messages that read "Hey. Sorry to bother you, but could you tell me a good source?" NO...I WILL NOT. Just as most of the knowledgeable members here will not entertain such a question. If you have made the decision to use then do your own work, because we will not do it for you. I rarely go off on a rant such as this, but the ignorance I have been witnessing around here among new members is staggering. As far as this board is concerned, I am still a newer member myself, but I have to express my displeasure with the lack of common sense I have been seeing. This is an excellent community with many knowledgeable members. A community with many varying personalities coming together to share experience and information. If you simply take the time to look around, you will likely find the information you are looking for. Thank you for bearing with me during my rare rant. Have a good evening.

I just do not understand the thought process of some individuals. I am all for new members trying to learn all the information they can, but just as I said in the original post, there is a search function. With simply typing a few words of a question they may have, they could (usually) find the answer they seek. The excuse that there are too many pages of info to go through doesn't hold water. Individuals posting questions about subjects that have already been answered elsewhere is the very reason WHY there are so many pages of info to go through.

Precisely. I love talking about accrued knowledge and assisting in any way that I can, but using common sense before asking certain questions can go a long way. One of my favorite quotes "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

Typically, i don't receive pms unless it's from members such as yourself Jay, but recently I have had several from new members asking similar questions.
