I will surely stock up. But I gotta ask a dumb question: does gear quality degrade over many several months? Say 6-12 months. I have used some that I stored for 2 years but don’t know if they were at their highest potency or not

Because carrier oil keeps the steroid in an oxygen free, bacteriostatic environment (thanks to the Benzyl Alcohol), and most steroid molecules are already very durable, all evidence and experience points to nearly no degradation at room temperature for many years.
Kept out of light, you can expect a minimum of 5 years with nearly no degradation. Tests I've seen on even older gear shows no more than a couple percent reduction in potency.
Odds are the rubber stopper will be the limiting factor, drying out before the contents go bad (there are special coated stoppers that last 3x longer than regular butyl rubber).
So for essentials, like Testosterone, figure out what a 5 year supply looks like (ie TRT 200mg/wk would be about 25-30 vials), and as long as it's easily available keep "topping off" your supply a couple of times a year, and use the oldest stuff first. That's plenty of buffer for new sources to develop, or to get a prescription, or even travel to another country and get it from a doctor there and bring it back (you can bring up to 50 doses of foreign prescribed controlled substances back to the US).
