Geometric Dilution Scaled Up?

I’m considering making some capsules but the dosages are in the microgram area. Not wanting to spend 10k or more on a scale that sensitive, my thought was to scale up the batch to 4x or 5x output and then I’d be dealing with geometric dilutions that fall within the range of error of a more cost effective mg scale.

Is there a flaw in my thinking? Yes I will have to divide the final powder into fourths or fifths but if I follow the geometric dilution process I’d still end up with a evenly distributed final result right?

Depending on what compound your dealing with, small doses in capsules can be dangerous if your not proficient in the required techniques. You might want to consider just getting it in Pharma from someone.

Thanks @Iron Vett that was my thought as well but was curious if I was on the right track. Honestly the cost of the items I’m looking at is minimal.

Not necessarily. Even micronized powders often clump back to particles weighing several micrograms, becoming impossible to further divide.

Better to stick to liquid dilution. If the powder is perfectly dissolved, not suspended, every single drop contains the same amount.
May I ask what compound do you want to dose?

@master.on i honestly don’t recall which one. I remember looking at a price list and thinking damn that’s expensive for just one gram then reading about the compound and realizing a typical dose was in the 20-40microgram area (and a gram would last forever) and it got me thinking about how you would create that in a capsule. It may have been clen or abuterol but I don’t remember.

Just curious and for learning. Thanks.

Most drugs measured in mcg are very powerful and can send you to the ER if you were to accidentally inhale or ingest some of it when brewing, i.e. T3, clen

Be careful. Ask before brewing.
