Not sure this belongs here but anyway... been following him since his early days of hammer curling 165 or something and getting flak for bad form lol... big respect he is a real POWER lifter :)

George is a crazy strong deadlifter no doubt, though many feel this particular one should have been red lighted due to his knees not locking out.

Not reading any powerlifting forums but his knees lockout had me wondering from another pov also, it looked as if his legs are crooked inward but not locked out straight but still, I guess the judges know better :) I have no doubt he will be surpassing his own record not long from now, he explained in a vlog he had a terrible preparation leading up to that meet, coming off of an injury and being notified late he will compete then mixing up timings of the event having to sleep in a booth and jerk around for hours (I believe he was 6 or more hours early) coupled with him explainig how event's set up for deadlifting lacked by weights being placed outside in the heat of Florida on a concrete floor which by his explanation was not even so the bar actually rolled around. Anyway will keep an eye on him for becoming America's Benni Magnusson :)

Benni really is in a class of his own, I'd also put Eddie Hall in that category as well. It seems like the rounded back deadlifters like George blast the weight off the floor but really struggle at lock-out. I've read that it's due to the hips being out of position once you pass the knee but anyhow you look at it George is now in the books as a member of the elusive 900lbs deadlift club.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of sumo though it's amazing how efficient some are at it. A lot of the Russian guys really have the sumo pull down to a science.

Not a fan of sumo either for PR setting, but it is not a bad lift. I like Vince Urbank's close PRs in both techniques, he was American raw dl record holder until now. Also it looks like George Leeman has been mentored by him because 1st he is now dating his lil sister and most obvious of all he now also uses hook grip like Vince Urbank.

I still think Gary Frank was probably the strongest deadlifter to come out of America. She had a meet I believe at the very same venue that he pulled, squatted close to 400lbs.
