Okay so two separate topics but for the sake of keeping this forum “neat” I’m combining them.
What are y’alls preference? Disposable bottle tops or reusable glass?
I’ve been looking into reusable bottle tops (obv need to be sterilized) for the reason of filtering all solutions twice to three times for the smoothest gear possible. After talking to one of my sources it’s what he does to ensure it’s as sterile & smooth with minimal pip as possible. Only thing being, buying 3 disposable bottle tops every brew runs costs up considerably hence looking into reusable (although sourcing one is a bitch)
Now onto my second inquiry considering I’ve searched and there doesn’t seem to be much talk about this.
Theoretically would UVC light sterilization be as effective as an autoclave? I know medical studies site it as being highly effective at killing bacteria, etc. However I rarely see any home brewers talk about it, makes me wonder if there’s some underlying reason why it’s almost never discussed. UVC sterilization again being a more cost effective route to go, about half the price of an autoclave.
Curious to here opinions on these subject.
