Good Mornings

A variation you may enjoy once you get comfortable with GMs is the kang squat aka good morning squat.

Start with a good morning. At the bottom of the GM proceed into the rock bottom of your squat. Coming out of the squat you return to the bottom of the GM. Finally complete the GM.

The movement between the bottom of the squat into the bottom of the GM is the best way to feel the proper 1st pull. Which is where most novice Olympic lifters create a bad habit called the stripper pull, where the ass rises first during the initiation of the 1st pull aka deadlift in powerlifting terms.

That's a long way down the road to start that movement my man.

True. But it wouldn't hurt to do them light weight just to in grain the movement pattern. Driving thru the mid foot during a 1st pull/deadlift is essential to learning the proper form whether the goal is oly or power lifting. Since he is doing westside, where deads are a primary lift, I figure it wouldn't hurt to brush up on form work. He is going to need it on max effort lower training days. West side is a great methodology but is also can be injury prone. GPP and form are your only defense against injury and aas helps too.

Wouldn't reccomend that as when you are seated your sacrum spine tends to take too much pressure as it'll stay horizontal to the floor and you will essentially be hinging at that point instead of your hips
+1 also kinda defeating the purpose by sitting down because you would be disengaging the hamstrings and hip extensors. Posterior chain development is kinda the whole point of doing the excercise.

I do keep a wide base and focus more on the mind muscle connection working with around 155lbs. Focusing on the hips hinge...

the angle of your camera doesn't allow us to see a lot...
my .02 would be maybe start with a broomstick/pvc for your warmup(s) then jump to a few sets bar only for awhile. I think these guys do a good job

Thanks for the references. I did a few sets before the video with just the bar. Then 10s on each side. I just added some weight to get a better idea. I always seem to have great form on all exercises until weight is added.

I just like watching women kill it..
listen to Weighted & Rom anytime they chime in my ears perk up.
(I'm not 100 yet, BUT I've narrowed Rom's true identity down
to either Matt Fraser or Dan Bailey o_O)

Just got a chance to sit down and REALLY look at those videos. DAMN. They had some good "form".
Im a sucker for a really in shape gym rat chick.
Sure is hard to get rid of some distractions like that haha. There was this chick at my gym who looks like a real winner, and whenever she walked into the weight area everything just STOPS!

Thats one thing Ive never had is a really fit serious chick. For how into the lifestyle I am, I would love to date someone who was the same way. Super hard body

Totally concur...having a woman that shares the same lifestyle and goals as you has to be a great thing!
