Good vacuum filter to use for EO?

I have not used EO but my last brew I used pvdf Millipore 500ml bottletops which come sterile and are supposed to handle EO well. They worked as advertised. They run ~ $20 us.

I use Corning bottletop nylon

It ruined it by filter material. Filtered at 80F with 5psi. So it wasn't used error
So anything those wouldn't work for? Eo, mct, gso, bb, ba all good? I don't intend to use guaiacol anytime soon but never know.

And what do you mean ruined a large batch, can't you just dump out the batch from the filter and use a different filter? So do you just stick to like 100ml tops now and pour in slowly to avoid this in the future?

I only had those filters at that time so no I couldn't refilter.

Never used eo. So idk

Then get PTFE filter paper for it.

I tried the single use bottle top filters and the housing would melt into the brew. Had to throw out a L. Was pissed.
@Nuvo6 @helionn
So now I am wondering about the 200ml of Primo 200 I filtered with the pvdf Millipore filter. Did you see particulates or anything not is solution, in the final product? I have been using it without issue and it is visually clear but perhaps I should re-filter through a nylon filter. Found the attached (incomplete) filter compatibility chart floating around this forum or a while.

Yes it was full of floaters, you'd see them. It's entirely possible I just got a defective unit and yours is fine

If you want something that will work with everything get this

god damn do I really need to spend $500

Here is corning nylon bottle top filters. Are these what I should get?

That Sterlitech is a super nice system. When I was first looking into upgrading to a vacuum filter system, I looked at a Chinese knock off of that system. Save you money and do not buy a knock off. There is a seal that needs to form between the funnel and base, which is where the filter paper sits. If the glass is not perfectly lapped, it will not form a seal with the filter sandwiched between the funnel and base. When you add a vacuum bubbles will form around the periphery of the filter paper, indicating that you do not have a good seal and unfiltered product is circumventing the filtration process.

Again, I have not used EO but nylon is a solid choice for the filter element. If I am not mistaken, the Issues that @helionn had was a beak down of the housing.

If you choose to try the corning .2 nylon, let us know how it works. Try it on something cheap like TestC first though!

Cheap and effective. Can also get them anywhere else. Thermofisher stuff is on Amazon.

For reference, PVDF is NOT compatible with high BB. I ruined a big batch of Test U with 300mg/1/30 Test U/BA/BB in C8 just yesterday. Only 50ml of 500ml went through the filter, and it clouded on filtration. Filter melted shut is what it looks like. Should have just waited for my trusted filters to arrive :(

PTFE is best bet. Failing that Nylon. Failing that Cellulose Acetate (will be slow as shit, and if you up your vacuum past 0.06MPa to compensate you WILL crack your bottle or tear the filter). But really, don't be like me. Just get PTFE even if it's sometimes out of stock.

Bottom is a good guide on compatibility AND cleaning up your gear with a methanol elution.
