got thrown this weekend

i was visiting a friend in NC and we decided to take her horses for a ride...they havent been rode in 6 weeks. now i can ride, despite being from NYC, so i'm not new to these critters. i got on millie...a nice morgan approaching 16-16.1 hands. has a reputation for being stubborn. my friend, she's riding bucky, a quarter horse of average size...named so because he's ticklish and he'll buck you off if you tickle him. simple...no? :)

so we're out riding the open field. we get into a canter with me in the lead. millie makes a hard right and slows down just a tad. i'm still haging on...but barely. then i see the dreaded head drop....she's gonna buck. sure as shit, she kicks once and then again...and then i go over. over her left shoulder. as i'm getting up i hear my friend yelling at bucky. bucky decided to make a hard left once he saw millie turn. and he bucked just like millie did too. and my friend got thrown just like i did. we laughed it off as neither of us got thrown. but i think i pulled my calf muscle because i was limping up until this morning but no bruise.

oh well, it was bound to happen. 4 years of riding, a few close calls....it was coming. hey, atleast i got thrown with a good looking broad and noone got hurt. now its out of the way.

have a nice day

My friend used to ride horses bareback when he was younger and he has one nut, because of it :) He told me he's getting too old to do that now,so he just rides bulls. Crazy ass cowboys

so, like, millie bucked you but did you, like, 'buck' millie's mom?.... :D

LOL...not that i would mind...but no. i went to pay my respects since her husband, my friend, died 2 weeks ago. i went to try and lift her spirits a bit. i guess watching me dump off a horse, and then her dumping too accomplished that since we were both laughing...and limping slightly. :)

have a nice day

Smoke'n Joe is indeed a real cowboy folks... and yes, he even carries a six shooter when he rides ;)

Funny thing is, I'm from Kansas, and I never ride (I don't even own a Cowboy hat) Joe's from NY and he rides all the time.....

Wow the world is really getting mixed up... Pretty soon the best rapper will be White.... The best golfer will be black..and the tallest guy in the NBA will be Asian!... :D

At least you are honest Bro. I am from Texas, grew up on a small farm, about 200 acres. Horses, cattle and now the old man has goats for some damn reason. I guess he needed something else to do since he retired. Thing is, there are more people in this damn state that fill up the bars with their big assed hats on friday and saturday night that have never even seen a horse, much less been on one. The go to the bars and dance to their techno half assed new aged country crap and drink imported beer and act like they are cowboys. Makes me want to give them the bigpmp slap. It just doesn't amke any damn sense.

Joe, you are lucky that you didn't get a serious injury. Those beasts are menaces. :) I went horseback riding last mo. It was allot of fun, but I found the the horses kind of intimidating since I haven't been around them for years.

I think jockeys are under appreciated athletes.

I hope you're not serious.

Yeah, I'm serious did you ever see that documentary on HBO or read any Dick Francis mysteries? Those guys are constantly battling to keep their weight down to 113lbs. How would you like to fall of a horse at 30+ mi/hr.? Plus they have to be able to read the animal (to put it inarticulately).

What does any of that have to do athleticism?

I used to date a french girl who had 5 horses. Those things scare the shit out of me.

its a common thing to be intimidated by them...considering your "average" horse is about 5' to 5'5" tall at the withers and weighs about 600-700 lbs. its a good thing that they're flight animals and that they dont realize how much damage they could actually inflict on us. they're "stupid smart" animals as far as i'm concerned. but i love them anyway.

have a nice day

My mom has an half app. half arabian. She is absolutely goregous, she is getting up in her years so we let the kids ride her around the yard now. But when she was younger I used to take her just about everywhere....I promised the kids when we move that I would buy them a horse of their own.

used to ride ponies as a kid. bareback and they would get wild. sounds like a good time. I rode a horse last summer for the first time in years. glad u got that friend laughing even if it was at your expense somewhat

Athlete n. a person trained or gifted in exercise or contest involving physical agility, coordination, stamina or strength.

I think that it is accurate to call a jockey an athlete they possess all the necessary characteristics. Did you ever watch a horse race, Dolfe you big dumb piece of crap? :p
