Greyowl's Tendonitis....Whhaaaaaaa

Fuck me if it didn't hit me good in the patellae of both knees on Thursday evening with barely any warning just as I got back home from a biz trip. Motherfucker! Just as I was dropping a huge amount of fat --- 10 lbs in two weeks. Too much cardio I bet.

Tendonitis hit me in the shoulder two years ago. Took me the better part of a year to shake it off, I still haven't regained my form. Screwed all my upper body gains from the previous year and a half. Now this. I'm sure it means no leg work except maybe calves for at least 4 months, probably a lot longer. No more cardio for me without my knees until this gets straightened out, I'm going to be a fat fuck again.

It must age-related. Anybody have any idea whether HRT strategies might speed my recovery? Or anything else for that matter. Anybody research on growth hormone's appilcation to tendonitis? Swale, have you ever treated someone for this?

Oh well maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Guess I'll have to focus entirely on upper body for the next few months.

Tonight I am going to drown my sorrows by jumping off my training, starting with a hug spliff and followed by a massive rib-eye and baked potato slathered in sour cream and butter, and about half a mile of Poppyseed strudel, washed down by a $50 bottle of Barolo I picked up on my way home from work, All of which I will pay for out of the money I save by not starting any cycles in the near- to mid-future thanks to this bullshit.

I am trying to keep a smile but I can't express to you how discouraged I feel. At my age, I simply cannot afford to see months of gains reversed every fucking year by this horseshit. Guys I'm desperate.

WAAAAAAA i have Tendonitis ! OK i have it in my knee and even thought it only acts up every 8yrs or so,ijust take a Vioxx and it's all better

I've heard that there are some trials of injecting hgh into joints--nothing definitive yet. Why don't you do some lap swimming till you get some shots of cortisone and then rehab the knees?

How much, and how long on the Vioxx? Any sides?

Some in my knee, ALLOT in my shoulders.

It seems sleeping on my side causes major issues, with tendonitis in the shoulders. Have had this problem for years. Very, VERY, frustrating. I've never wanted to use cortisone as I've read you end up numbing the nerves and long term doing more damage...

SHOULDER joint: "STOP, I'm dying over here"

Nerves in shoulder sipping on cortisone cocktail, with umbrella in it: "Agghh, beautiful day at the beach"

:D ... i took Vioxx for 1 day and the pain in my knee was gone. I wasn't doing any strenuous training at the time though. I got hit by a car when i was 7yrs old and the doc said i had tendinitis after. It hurt a few times a yr up until i was about 23yrs old(was within the time i was most active i guess). It didn't hurt again until about 11yrs later and then when my sister, who has more meds than a pharmacy, gave me the Vioxx, the pain was gone in about 1 day ... that was about 6 months ago. When Vioxx was taken off the market, her doc gave her some other shit that was basically ... SHIT ... she was so glad she still had some Vioxx left

ive got tendonitus off and on in my shoulders front to back, in both biceps - from numerous pulls, i also have achilles tendoniyus (the most worrying - who doesnt want to be able to walk 20 minutes later in life?? )

ive not tried GH etc. But i have started feeling alot better on 10g of cod liver oil every day. and a 300 cals serving of salmon filet 3-4 times a week and now almost everyday.

Glucosamine and MSM seemed to have worked but it was when i added the extra fats, ive stopped the MSM etc now and still feel good, so i assume its the fats but will get more MSM when im not so broke ($80 a month on it at the mo is money i need elsewhere)

The only cardio i do is walking and im not a fat fuck by any stretch bro. Have some time out, but more than anything chill your head out about, ive given myself personal hell with stress and depression from injuries and you know what it's not worth it!

Well that's certainly good advice. It's not so bad after all, my upper body is badly undeveloped and could use a few months of focused work. Tendonitis in the knee ain't one quarter as bad as achilles tendonitis. I should stop whining.

Does anyone know whether Viozz works the same way as aspirin and ibuprofen, by blocking proaglandins?

It is curious that you got hit with BILATERAL patellar tendonitis. I think a serious look into your training technique is in order.

By your choice of foods, you are inducing a generalized inflammatory response in your body. Just some "food" for thought.

No kidding about the training. I think it was going nuts-to-the-wall with 45 minutes of hi-intensity biking 5 times a week.

You're right about the diet too. Fell off the wagon last night to console myself. Now it's back to whole fruits, vegetables, and cold water fish. Probably have to pump up the Omega-3 oils in the fish with walnuts and pumpkin seeds.

Somewhat better today. Blitzed my body with NSAIDS, not a long-term strategy by any means but I was able to chase my niece and nephew around the zoo all day. Tomorrow I'll stay of my feet and switch to quercetin to see if that works as an anti-inflammatory.

Just did a med search on GH, nothing in the literature about using it for tendonitis.

I would have to respectfully ask why it is you would chase children around all day while your knees are so sore.

Because they only get to come to the big city once a year, and they've been hyper-excited for months about my promise to take to the zoo. I love them more than I love my knees.

The inflammation and pain are much reduced today.

Went to see my own g.p. today (he was away last week) and he says the first doc misdiagnosed me, so it's probably not tendonitis. My own g.p. thinks the problem is an inflammation of a synovial (joint-lining) membrane. Probalbe cause is a post-viral, self-limiting auto-immune response, or possibly the result of arthritis.

The trainers at my club think it may be something called Patellar Femoral Syndrome.

I confess, I can no longer make hide nor tale of this bullshit.

All I know is when my levels are going down because of an infection or stress I get pain in my joints and muscles. And if I am doing the Gels this gets so bad I can hardly walk.

now i think i remember Animal saying something about knee pain and having something for it .. I can't remember but i'll look tomorrow

MSM has been simply amazing for me.. Im between 35 and 40 YOA and the joints and knees were starting to feel it... I used MSM at 3000mg a day and I notice a difference in 2-3 days... Its weird how it makes your joints feel.. its more like what you don't feel... I used to "notice" my knees as I walked down the stairs...after taking the MSM I would get down the stairs and say "Hey..I didn't notice my knee's" I have nothing but good things to say about it.... I now take 1500mg a day and feel great...

The thing with msm though is that you're only masking the problem rather than correcting it & therefoe most likely doing more damage to your knee's for later life :(

Alot of Udo's Oil & a glucosamine sulphat along with rest has helped my elbow a great deal & hopefully I'll be able to train my upper body properly again in the next few weeks! :)

Not true. MSM contains sulfur and helps repair/rebuild your joints. It doesn't shut down prostaglandin production like NSAIDs.

But I'd also cut down the omega 6's, eliminate trans fats and consume a HUGE amount of omega 3's. That'll cut down the inflammation and help the healing process big time. :D

Interesting info.

Well, the diagnosis is in. The sports doc's diagnosis was way off, x-rays came back showing severe arthritis is both knees. Useless prick, that's the last time I got a sports clinic for a diagnosis.

My g.p. has ruled out tendonitis, so it actually had nothing to do with the way I was training.

Re: Omega 3s, trans-fats etc ...

Asked my gp about anti-arthritis diets, he said a book called the Gold Coast Diet is a good introduction. Checked it out, turns out this is the way I've been eating anyways for the past three months, save for a weekly cheat day involving a ribe eye, a baked potato and half a bottle of red.

Greyowl the only way I can get going in the morning is to go into my spa for a half an hour. The Temp I use is 101 deg. After doing this I am good for most of the day. So I eat breakfast then go for a 1 hour walk. I was doing gels but they did nothing for my joint a muscle pain. In the last 4 months I have been doing 150 mgs. of Depo T shots every week and 500 IU's of Hcg 3x's a week. The Hcg I just started 4 weeks ago. In the last 7 weeks I have lost 20.5 lbs. Until I went to shots I was house bound and could barly walk. I hope to start on the Dum Bells soon I am 61.
