It's the best shooting small frame gun I have ever shot. Almost no muzzle flip. You can put 2 shots in the circle fast..

I had a 9mm carbine if I remember correctly. I do know it was a high point carbine but I was hard on it like I am all my rigs. Not a bad gun. Not my choice but not a bad throw away;)

Yeah man I read a article on this a few weeks ago when I was looking into sights. I just read it on one specific model tho. That's why I was leaning toward the aimpoint compM4 just like when I was in the army. It held zero for a year in Iraq just fine.

That and you can leave it on with a batery life of about 4 years lol. Aimpoint is my next optic. CompM4 is about as indestrucable as you get.

I had the Comp M4S for a while. Solid optic and, like, 5+ year battery life. Only got rid of it because I wanted something with a little magnification and didn't want to sacrifice rail space for a magnifier. But for any CQB rifle, it's a damn fine choice.
 
Yeah I mean that's what they issue just regular straight leg army infantry so it's pretty good. That's just a insane amount of battery life tho.

Excellent optic, rifle combo. For true close quarters, it's nice to have a shotgun throwing 15 pellets, not 9. I've seen the difference calibers make, if the shtf, I would dust off the Garand, grab my awol bag, and get to it.
 
That's cool, however I don't think I could give up my 870. Long while back I coated the moving parts with clover valve lapping compound and just ran the action for weeks. Its now so slick and smooth. I can out shoot most with automatics.

Don't get me wrong, I love scatter guns too!

But, honestly, I think the M4 platform is one of the best close quarters and HD weapons in existence, when done right. I'm working on a 300BLK SBR build that will eventually be my bump-in-the-night gun. Just waiting to see if suppressors get taken off of the naughty list before I put it together.

Nice weapon!
For those that can go from buckshot to slugs in about 3 seconds. The shot gun can be a dangerous thing to deal with.

SBR in 300 blackout. Is an excellent choice.

Ps, is there a reason to expect suppressors to become legal with out a stamp?

Trump Jr is a proponent. Legislation stalled in congress last year but there's renewed hope it can get through under current administration.
 
Shotguns are definitely a game changer in terms of overall destruction of your target. I hate to use the term "overkill" in any defense weapon, since I don't believe there is any such thing, but a slug/buck combo is fucking devastating and is not something an attacker will walk away from, unlike some handgun and even rifle calibers.

I've been on the fence over owning a suppressed 300BLK SBR... until I shot one. Ain't no good for anything past 50-75 yards, but is an awesome choice for clearing a house. No hearing protection needed with subsonic loads, which is very welcome.

One of the few downsides of a shotgun in an enclosed/HD environment is always going to be muzzle flash and temporary hearing loss. Neither being desirable when an attacker, or multiple attackers, could be shooting back at you.

Good points on the shot gun. But what it does very well, is to help you to pull the trigger on a moving target. That split second that is need to insure a good shot, is no longer needed. Literally point and shoot.

I make sure to keep "electronic" hearing protection next to the sbr that sleeps next to me each night that protects my family.

Muzzle flash will always be a bitch, however, you should have the home field advantage as you will be familiar with each and every corner of your home whereas the intruder should be slightly "disoriented" due to new surroundings.

True. My old instructors always drilled in my head the downsides of muzzle flash in a combat setting, not necessarily in a home defense situation. Plus, if you're anything like me, you'll already be blinding the shit out of your attacker with a quality weapon light anyway, so the actual flash from the barrel will be negligible.

Still, the hearing protection just isn't something I can see myself grabbing in a SHTF scenario in the middle of the night. I have electronic muffs, too, but I guarantee I won't be mindful enough to grab those if I hear a door kicked in or window smashed. Just grabbing the closest available weapon and putting it, and myself, between them and my family.
