Micro is aimpoint's best site. Small, light and bombproof. Battery life is insane and I can seel up 2 more batteries and keep them inside my quick detach mount. That's probably a decade of battery on the gun under an oz. I keep mine on at indoor brightness in my safe. I swap every year regardless but it's a dependable grab and go setup. I don't use or like mag couplers but in the safe I keep a coupler set on the gun so 60 rounds.

That said it really comes down to what it's worth to you. I like dots as you can shoot accurately on the run. That and at night really surpasses irons which I'm otherwise fine with and have some advantages (don't ever fog going from indoor to outdoor). There are some good enough substitutes even if you have high standards. Can always be sold for a decent price though if you want out. Perfect for lightweight pistol/SBR build if CQB capability is important. 2moa dot can shoot out to 200 and make very solid hits further if you want but no magnification makes IDing targets at 300 and beyond sketchy at best (folding magnifier will run you another chunk of cash but I'd just go variable at this point).

Anyway really depends on what's important and how important it is to you. Honestly it can't really be beat for what it is. Comes at a premium though.

As a side note I have been bidding on these for quite some time but having received it now in my hands it feels completely different than the pictures portrayed it on the internet. Knowing that dozens if not hundreds of United States soldiers were murdered with this rifle has me "contemplating" my purchase. Part of me wants to put this in the gun safe and save it for future Generations so that history will not be forgotten and part of me wants to destroy this rifle completely. Kind of gay I know... I'm surprised I was so emotional unboxing this.

The Machining is fine but the pistol grip screw threads are less than desirable and just all-around it feels less well built than a Spike's lower. One thing I do need to tell you guys about is this cheap holographic sight from Amazon. I originally had this on my kids Sig 522 gun as they are really rough on things and if they broke it I was only out $30. The thing has been so bulletproof and held zero through so much that I decided to put it on one of my guns and now I've put it on several of my guns. It is just absolutely unbeatable for $30 and the field of view is better than my EOTech. Shocking absolutely shocking I don't know what else to say about this little gem you should go out and buy one or two or three of these and let me know what you think.

Wanted to thank you again for posting this up. Picked up 2 from amazon this week to go some AR’s. Unbelievable sight for the money! Highly recommended!

Interesting offering. For that price you could have a few spares around.

Earlier we were talking about Aimpoint Micros - same company makes a similar design. Even cheaper than their Eotech-like offering. Never heard or used but if the above works maybe this would too.

Interesting you bring that up brother, I have a similar one of those on my really old original pre-ban AR-15. Called truglo but basically the same thing and perhaps even from the same company? (Edit, just did some research and it's a different company but looks very similar.) Excellent optic for the price. The only reason I went with the other holographic sights that I listed here is because of the enlarged field of view. I shoot with both eyes open whether it's pistol, rifle, or 500+ yard rifle and the tube on the fieldsport micro reduces the field of view more so than the smaller holographic sight. That said though it is an amazing red dot For the price... bulletproof... you can drag it through the mud and it will always hold zero and always work. (Edit: thanks for posting that, I'm going to grab a couple of these and put them to work around here. A good solid review in a few months perhaps.)

Rimmed cartridges only fire from a single stack magazine that is specifically designed so the rims don't touch each other during feeding. Rimless cartridges are more efficient at double stacking so if you're shooting a 357 you're stuck with like a 1911 platform or a single stack carbine. The 7.62x54r is probably the most commonly used rimmed cartridge and I have seen it used in Machine Guns Etc but it's just not nearly as efficient as rimless. Remember though in a belt-fed system the rims don't touch so you're fine it's the magazine stacking issue that you have to worry about.

Only thing I don’t like about the Tavor is the mag release on that model. Other then that it’s a really good weapon.

Hell yeah, shooting 1MOA with a 4x optic. I think we have a nice home defence weapon here. Any lights going on those foward rails? And I hate to be tacky but how much did you pay? Nice rifle!

If you think about it though, most Israeli weapons have really odd controls on them in my humble opinion. I mean look at the desert eagle how awkward is that thing to put on safe LOL of course I'm only slightly joking it's hard to argue with the amazing controls on the Uzi and FAL. Those are so well-designed they'll be appreciated hundreds of years from now.

The newer Tavor has an AR15 type mag release now.
