Help: Increased BP and Hypertension from Telmisartan. Beta Blockers vs. ARB?

I'm on a new cycle (Test 500mg/wk, NPP 500mg/wk, Primo 225mg/wk), going on my 7th week. My BP has been high (140+/85), and spiked after I took some Anavar (25mg) preworkout. I tried taking Telmisartan, 40mg, but it caused my BP to get worse, and I could feel increased hypertension in my chest. It made me feel horrible.

Anyone else have a bad reaction to Telmisartan? Can I expect this from all ARBs?

I've tried Nebovolol and Metoprolol, both beta blockers. Both seem to work well for me, and I haven't had any issues since I've kept taking it.

Any issues with long term use of beta blockers? Any suggestions on an alternative ARB?

I don’t know a ton about beta blockers, but I know they can cause a lot of issues they are intended to prevent, once you come off

Telmisartan works great for me, never had any issues with it. Used Losartan before that and never had any sides from it either. I used nebivolol years ago and it was awful. I’m assuming you’re under the care of a doctor, but if not you really should be rather than experimenting with BP meds on your own.

I thought the same thing, but after doing some reading, I guess it happens with a "significant" number of patients. More than likely, Telmisartan isn't the right BP medication for him and should talk to his PCP about a possible alternative.

I take 5mg ramipril and hover around 140/70 while on tren and anavar. Don’t worry too much you’re in the normal range

For effective bp lowering only without any extra benefits, I find best:

2,5mg - 10mg Amlodipine


A lot less effective at lowering bp, but brings tons of health benefits when someone is taking AAS and GH:

1,25mg - 5mg Nebivolol
20mg - 80mg Telmisartan



I right now take 7,5mg Amlodipin, 5mg Nebivolol and 60mg Telmisartan. My blood pressure is 115/72, rhr is 52. Really love it, no downsides.
Things that I would avoid is diuretica. Not only do they worse your lipid profile (Ldl, Hdl, Triglyceride) but also your blood glucose levels. Both sucks when youre taking AAS and eating a huge amount of carbs, so we dont want that.

Best combo for me was and is telesmartin 40mg and amlodipine 2.5mg , these 2 work amazing together.

You could very well have other issues going on, i suggest running a full blood panel and looking at your lipids etc, for me im a hypothyroidism guy, and if i sink to far hypo ill get chest tighting etc and that's due to the narrowing of the arteries etc, once i get back to optimal that clears etc, could be something else going on with you and the telesmartin is trying to help but makes u feel werid and its worth a check up to me regardless

Has anyone experimented with ARB + MRA combination? im using the new gen MRA eplerenone, but the acute effect of it seemed to wear off really quickly, but that might be a good sign

such as telmisartan + eplerenone/spironolactone

or is ARB + Diuretic the "better" option for curing water retention and high BP

I’ve noticed this effect initially from Telmisartan too. I was actually just starting to research it more to try and figure out the exact mechanism by which it can happen. But this initial increase was followed by a decrease. I used 5mg tadalifil in the meantime till things normalized.

Most doctors will not prescribe BP meds if your using PEDs or illegal drugs. Mine at least won’t. He just said stop taking steroids you don’t need blood pressure medication. So people are forced to buy them illegally

I was expecting stronger diuretic action from telmisartan and eplerenone. When I eat alot of salt there doesnt seem to be any increased diuresis, even though theyre supposed to excrete sodium and water

Do you get any abdominal bloating from amlod. Im using 5mg from doctor. I was over 200 and just under 100. Now high 180 and high 80s. Doctor wants to go up to 10mg. But sometimes i look like im carrying tren3times love child. Any of your knowledge would be appreciated.

Honestly this is the first time I hear of bloating. Are you sure it's from the amlodipine? I had no side effects from amlodipine even at 10mg. Only "side" is that I felt very tired in the beginning but that went away very quickly when my body got used to the new healthy blood pressure.

When I used it I titrated it up. I started at 2.5mg, then 5mg, 7.5mg and 2-3 weeks later went to 10mg.

Havent chatted for a while dude. Ive just been prescribed amlod. 5mg. I was over 200 and just under 100. Now 180s and high 80s. But they bloat me bad. Doc wants to go up to 10mg. Seems like you know ur stuff. Anyissues getting that telesmartin from doctors.

Yeah. I googled it and 8% of people get digestive issues from it. So just looking into bro science before making any decisions. Thanks for your honesty.

I also tried lercanidipine which is also great and gave me no side effects - in fact, lercanidipine is known to cause the least side effects if I remember correctly from my research couple years ago. So I would either wait and see if it gets better with amlodipine or just switch to something else. There's so many different bp meds to choose from.

Just following the doctor at the moment. Just dont want to do it blind. Also the reason we use bp meds is not why most use them right. Will look up that lercanidiphine however. Less sides sounds like a winner. This lifestyle seems like drug after drug just to be normal with a shit tone of muscle. Some scientist needs to make gear that is healthy.
