Help with injury

I hurt what I believe is my flexor while squatting. I can't get low on the squat as it hurts quite a bit. This happened 3 weeks ago and it really hasn't gotten better. From what I've been reading it seems to be a muscle strain from overuse.
I stopped squatting and two weeks in I stopped deadlifting as well, just in case, even though it doesn't hurt when deadlifting.
Basically, I wanted to know if anyone has had a similar problem and if I "diagnosed" myself correctly. If so, what advice/further info can you give me about recovery.
I iced it for awhile, but I don't if I should keep doing that. I do icy hot massages at night and just try not to stress it. There is no swelling, but from what I read it shouldn't be hurting like it does when I squat down anymore.

Your input would be great.

Thanks

Try heating pads, and when you squat, squat very light and try widening your stacke about 10 inches and point your toes slightly outward, sometimes that takes pressure of certain flexors, but if not just do leg extensions, and curls til it heals, only time will heal it.

Yes, what he said or leg presses till it heals.

I appreciate all the advice. Its been about 2 months now. I tried squating just the bar this week and it hurt again. Started deadlifting again as well, that is fine. I'm starting to think it might have something to do with the hip joint, not muscle.

In any case, would a chiro be the most appropriate doctor to go to?

You might want to go and have it looked at by a sports med Dr. Chiropractors are mainly for pinched nerves and alignments. It may not even be your flexor. Could be cartilage or if you were real deep in a squat when it happened who knows. But a Chiropractor could direct you if he doesn't think he can help.

you could have just over stretch a tendon or liagment maybe. here is something you will have to ask yourself. where exactly does it hurt? and is a muscle or joint ? if i was i was narrow it down before i went to a doctor. if you think it is hip flexor try doing a sit up to see if it pulls on it.. it might hurt to do some different thing but at least you know more about it. if squats are the only exercise that is hurts on then i wouldn't think it too be too bad. just my home remedy opinion.
