Hematoma After Gyno Surgery

I just had my gyno removed 9 days ago. Within a day post op, I had a gnarly hematoma on my right side. I got it removed 4 days ago but some hard tissue has developed where the hematoma was. Anyone have experience with a hematoma following gyno surgery? Is this hard tissue normal? Would HGH help it heal any faster?

I had asymmetric swelling which left some palpable scar tissue under my left nipple. There was also a lot of bruising on that side. My right side was perfect.

You're not really going to know what you're dealing with until you heal a bit.

Also, we're on gear through the surgery?

You mean seroma as in fluid collection and soft? You say hard tissue, if removed it sounds like you weren't opened up again already. How was it removed?

I had a hematoma on left side after my gyno surgery just under 8 weeks ago. Had a drain in for 4 days and still had blood build up and swelling afterwards. I drew out over 20mL of fluid over the course of the week or two after that. It then turned rock hard from the entire area where breast tissue was removed. In the past week or so , it finally started softening up and has dramatically decreased in size but still has some rock hard tissue remaining. It seems to be shrinking up daily tho. Could be a coincidence but it seems to start shrinking once I started icing it daily and taking acetaminophen 500mg 2x daily as well

I’m assuming it’s not remaining gyno tissue and it’s actually “hard” tissue he’s talking about. There’s a very distinct difference between the hard tissue after the hematoma and the hard, rubbery tissue that was gyno

Like Avararice said, it’s different than the gyno. My surgeon said it’s swelling that will go down over time. Just curious what others have seen from similar experiences. Have heard of some needing a revision which I dread the idea of

This is great information! Thank you! Sounds like our experience is a little similar. I’m only 10 days post op, so hopefully it continues to improve like yours. Does it impact being able to lift?

Thanks. I wasn’t on gear. TRT, but I don’t call that gear

Ok, just making sure it wasn't fluid. I had the surgery, and while had tissue swelling 4 days after, it went down and had massive fluid buildup. So bad I had to have the seroma fluid removed many times. Awful experience with it.

Nope, went back to lifting light at 3 weeks and by week 5-6 was back to full strength as I was presurgery

Gyno has been the bane of my existence since I was 12-13 years old. It sucks more than anything. I'm actually waiting on a call back this week from the surgeon because I most certainly have a recurrence on the right side even tho he was supposed to remove the entire gland. He seemingly got it all on the left side because I don't feel any gyno tissue in there but the right is painful and swollen again and I know that distinct feeling vs the postop pain.

It's too early to know. I wouldn't do anything. No strenuous activity. Wear your compression garment, the tighter the better. It will take you a year or more to fully heal and hard tissue may soften and disappear.

Most of the time, this happens when the surgeon is too aggressive and clumsy with his hands. That doesn't mean he didn't get the job done, but rough technique is usually the reason why people end up with these hematomas and excessive scar tissue from gyno surgery.

If you have a lot of scar tissue, you could try Kenalog injections eventually, but that's also risky.

that sounds awful. They pulled over 300ml of jello-like gunk/blood when they drained my hematoma. Disgusting

Just to clarify, was that 3 weeks after surgery or 3 weeks after having the hematoma drained? The surgeon told me to base everything off the date it was drained but I’m not sure which day to use. He is veryyyy conservative.

After surgery. It was like 2 weeks after fluid was drained. Hematoma is still there to some degree but shrinking up on its own

Your surgeon is not being conservative enough. It's good for him if you lift too early, because if you have any complaints about your long term results, he gets to turn around and blame you for disturbing the healing process.

DO NOT LIFT. TAKE A BREAK. You WILL create more scar tissue by lifting or being too active. Your surgeon at some point looks at you on the operating table and says "ok, I think it's done. Once the swelling goes away and the healing is complete, the reasonable expectation is that the patient will look exactly like he looks like on this operating table right now".

That all changes when you get a hematoma or recurring swelling. You can develop wierd muscle and skin adhesions and fat necrosis.

It's time to be gentle on yourself. You shouldn't do anything for another 4-8 weeks.

Awful experience with the entire emoval process?
