this is my city these days, another reason i wont ever leave (disclaimer, the video's are actually from last year, distortion 2013 barely started today).
 
Looks fucking epic.

We just had the detroit music festival this past weekend. Exact same concept albeit I would imagine smaller than this. I went for my friends bachelor party....my perception of reality was severely....distorted;). lol.

Yeah, its cool. Not too many members know what he's talking about. They might figure it out, but initially it will make no sense at all to most. Which is perfect.

definitely wearing less clothes, and cute.
events looks like its pretty much the same setup though, close the streets for cars, put up as many stages as you can find, dig out the best available dj's, and have fun in the streets.
video's showcase the difference in culture clearly though.

I love that the internet allows for exchanges like this.

What do you see as differences in culture? Be brutal if you see it that way, I am not a blind patriot.

the two biggest differences that comes to mind is that it looks a lot more commercialised, and that there's more focus on show (as in stage show, distortion has none, just a set of speakers, and a "mixerpult") at movement, it also looks a lot more under control (this can be both good and bad)

distortion is more like a raggedy street party, people dont really care about what they're wearing, or where they are for that, they just want to get mashed.
also, this is not in the video, but i doubt that you will see many pirate parties popping up around movement, dj's wearing facemasks to hide their identity, improvised flamethrowers going up in the air from the audience, and mosh pits at movement. (worked safety crew at distortion last year, never doing that again).

Oh yeah. That wasnt as obvious to me in the videos. But ur right. They need an army of cops to section off an area of Detroit and make it safe. Its very structured.

yeah distortion has a crew of hundreds of volounteers, taking turns standing at the entrances to the closed off areas directing traffic the other way, last year about 8 people at a time were in charge of keeping traffic out, pretty much the only sectioning off that happens.

on a sidenote, we're hijacking the thread, but im not sure if herkules minds, since we're constantly bumping him.
 
Placed my sample order 3 hrs ago.

Just received confirmation that my pack has shipped. No tracking number, which is common, but I got an expected delivery date of a few days from now.

I've decided to provide tracking # on all orders in order to improve customer satisfaction. All current orders that are being shipped are updated with tracking numbers on the website... under your order information.

The tracking system on the website updates slower than USPS.com does, but I believe this is a decision that provides more benefits than disadvantages.
 
correct me if im wrong, but it sounds like you have a database of current orders (or perhaps even an order history) on your website. this is sort of dangerous, since data is restorable until several rewrites of the sectors in question. without getting way to techy, it means that if LE gets acces to your server, they can probably restore a whole lot of your previous orders and use them in court. i assume you rent serverspace instead of hosting yourselves, in this case there's two options, if you have privata data storage, the likelyhood of most of your orders for a very long time back being restorable is very high, if you have shared dataspace, a fair bit smaller. so unless you have access, knowhow, and permission to use dedicated data removal tools. might i suggest that you instead e-mail your customers their order status and tracking number, from an e-mail addy that only stores messages locally, only keep a record of current orders, locally, and familiarises yourselves with the tools needed to make the digital trail of your transaction history dissapear?

edit: this is not a worry for small buyers, but only for bulk buyers, and the seller. i presume the punishment for getting busted with current inventory and orders is very different from being busted for a years worth of transactions.

You're right. I am working with my web developer to implement a plan to safeguard the privacy of my customers and my business and ensure that there are absolutely NO liabilities. All transactions and history are readily in a moments notice erased from existence. Any order information and personal info is wiped after the transaction is completed to the customer's satisfaction.

You do make a valid point however, and it makes more sense now to keep tracking separate in order to protect my customers. I apologize for this and thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Cheers!

you're doing it right. you're on the ball, and you already accept crypto currency, you're already taking a small financial risk to protect your costumers privacy, thats doing a hell of a lot more than most public sources.

I don't understand the big deal with needing a tracking # on domestic. TA is stated, and is usually not that long. If communication is good, there should be no problems. Trust and solid communication are the most important. That's why we (meso members) beat up so many labs if there is even a hint of dishonesty, because trust is everything. Labs that don't get this, don't last.
