To each his own. From the video of you will see that running barefoot creates less force from impact to the body than running with shoes with support. Now if you have bad feet than I can agree. I used vibram 5 fingers when I was in service to run. And definitely felt better once you change your gait. Most people tend to over reach when running. Forcing the feet to strike heel first instead of striking with the forefoot first. Much more stress on the body being a heel striker.

I wouldn't take one video and used it as proof that running barefoot is better then wearing shoes. On the video, you can clearly see that the test subject w/o shoes was running gently to avoid harsh impact on his bare feet. Heck, even the Tarahumara had a makeshift/McGyver type of sandals to help their feet. But like you said, to each his own. I ran couple of marathon and seeing folks running bare foot.. That in my book is one badass mutherfuker!

It's not a big deal...Run barefoot for a while and you get used to it.

with your 5 fingers or bare foot? I got my trusted ASIC that I been using for over 5 years.. I might switch to NewBalance since couple of my runner friends had great reviews.. But for sure, at 44yrs old.. I need my feet and running bare foot is out :)
 
Lol Yeah. IMO though you are not get enough support squatting like that. But if it works for you then you're g2g.;)

They make minimalist running shoes. It's just like running barefoot
 
I have a few pair of 5 fingers. When I got them back in 2010 I walked around in them for a week. Then I started running in them. My calves were sore that first week. But you can definitely notice how the lower leg starts to develop and get stronger.
