Hey guys,

Just thought I'd give you a little background on what I've been up to over the past year.

Without getting really deep into the situation, I abused steroids pretty bad and never got my blood (lipids) checked or anything and gave myself some pretty bad health problems. I'm a Christian and had struggled with the issue of steroids for awhile, but the major health problems made it much easier for me to give them up.

That was about six months ago. I am healthy and clean now. I am still completely passionate about powerlifting, strength training, and coaching. I just wanted you guys to know that I'm also where I need to be as far as my relationship with my Savior. (My relationship with my wife is also excellent.)

I work with high school kids at church and will be a high school teacher next year. I love working with and coaching kids. It is my passion in life.

I still have problems. I still sin sin everyday - (hell, I sinned looking at Exosist's pics of his girl - lol). I want you all to know that I won't judge any of you for using gear - that's your own choice. But I've chosen not to use - and that doesn't mean I won't continue to kick your butt's in the weightroom.

Anyway, I wanted you all to know my name is Matt and I appreciate you guys. Hopefully I'll start spending a little more time here again.

Matt

ps - here's a cople pics of me for those of you who haven't seen me - remember, I'm not a bodybuilder, but just a guy who loves being strong, and strives daily to get stronger.

So matt will you still compete in powerlifting? Also when you said you "abused" steroids what exactly do you mean by that? You used heavy doses for long periods of time? oral compounds? Reason for my asking is that just about everyone on this board uses the stuff and it would be smart not to make the same mistakes you did and be careful. Also i think it was really nice and generous of you to offer help on training for free.Wish there were more guys like you around.Take care.

glad to hear that your health is coming back. good for you bro.

BTW...can you get your damn sneakers off the couch please!!! :)

have a nice day

Yes - of course I will still compete in powerlifting. As far as the abuse goes, I made two major mistakes...1) I never informed my doctor about what I was doing. I was too worried it would go on my medical record. Well, that's about the dumbest excuse I've ever heard. Instead I damn near killed myself, letting my blood pressure get to 180/110, my blood was so thick they almost drained a a couple points from my system, my HDL (good cholesterol) was under 5, my bad cholesterol was almost 300, and my triglycerides were 600.

The other stupid thing I did was basically continued to use gear for about 3 years straight. Granted I went off for a month or maybe 6 weeks here and there, but for the most part I used gear continuously and pretty heavy. (A typical cycle for me would be 1000mg test and 800mg eq per week with 100mg-150mg tren and 100mg dbol or anadrol per day.) - basically this comes down to around 3500 mg per week of gear, which is just too damn much.

Like I said, I would never judge you guys for using gear - as a matter of fact I truly believe they can be used in a responsible manner, and if they were ever legalized I would seriously consider using again. - Even now, after my wfie and I have kids I will probably go and see my doc about getting on HRT, as I believe I have always had low test. But of course if I ever used again, it would be under the guidance of a doc who could monitor my blood lipid profile.

Just because I was extremely informed about gear, (just as most of you are) doesn't mean I used it correctly. The one thing I would challenge you guys to do is to continually get your blood tested, and alos drop the amount of gear you use. You don't need 4 grams a week to get big.

Matt, you're going to hate me for saying this, but I think you looked a lot better during your Abercrombie days.

Greyowl,

Here's a little better pic of my fine ass these days...

I'm still on ok looking guy. I wish I could have the thinner face I used to have with the body size I have now. Maybe now that I'm off gear I can lean out a bit and lose the face bloat and fat.

lol..... Yeah, but you're a lot healthier now.... and that my friend, is what matters most.

Btw, If you're interested... what do you think about having another bench day this summer? IIRC Bench America is going to be an Anual thing right? If so, maybe we should try and have another bbq and see just how much us "natural" guys can push these days?

Phreez,

We have big training days about once per month either here or in KC or in Tulsa. We'll definitely have some big days up here this summer. And I'm sure it won't just be benching - we'll do some squat and pulling days too.

How's the health man? (PS - can't remember if I told you or not, but I just had my blood re-checked and the cholesterol was down to 170, HDLs were up to 25, and triglycerides were down to 350 - which is still high, but much better.)

Awesome to see you with those numbers Man!

The health has been doing pretty good for the most part... I have actually been feeling like I used to in the old days... A few days ago however, I came home from working out (i've been doing this modified hst thing) and I became very dizzy... felt weird and I got a nose bleed to accompany the dizziness... I Checked the BP and it was 179/108 while my resting heart rate was 118 bpm.... (this was about an hour and a half after I got home from lifting)... I decided to go to bed for a couple of hours, and when I awoke my bp had droped back down to normal... (122/76) and my rhr droped down to 79 bpm ... I have no idea why I had the spike, but it reminded me that I can't stop being careful in what I do. When something triggers my PVC's my heart will not pump blood correctly nor will it process oxygen correctly so my rhr and bp have to go up to get enough oxygen out.. Once my heart starts beating normal again though I'm fine... Comes and goes, supposedly it's not something that is life threatening.... But it does remind me that I'm very mortal.

Enough about me... So you're going up to KC regular then? How is KG and DG? Have you seen our friend with the mohawk lately? (if he still has the mohawk?)

Those were pretty high doses Animal Mass! Im glad your health is on the mend getting blood checks is always a good idea I get a comprehensive panel done before and after every cycle these days
