The VERONICA-Nigeria trial (2022–2024), led by Dr. Dike Ojji, demonstrated that a low-dose triple-pill combination (Telmisartan 20 mg, Amlodipine 2.5 mg, and Chlorthalidone/Indapamide 12.5 mg) significantly improved blood pressure control compared to standard care in Black African adults with hypertension. The single-pill strategy reduced home systolic pressure by 5.8 mm Hg more than standard care.
