Lost Boyz "Renee" is still one of my favorite songs. Used to bump it in my camaro in 96.
That whole album is on my top 10 all time list.
Yeah me to, always wonder how much bigger they would have gotten if Freaky Tah didn't get killed. This thread inspired me to Wikipedia them and find Mr Cheeks still makes music. Haha will have to check it out!
Hate to say it, but zyzz is right. Ice Ice baby is not hip hop foundation. The only thing it did was got people of a certain complexion who may not have listened to rap before to hear it.
And Tupac is dope. But foundation? He didnt come out til the 90s. Shits been around since the late 70s, early 80s.
This listeing to original rap has got me bringing back memories of the old days when me am my party group use to listen to this shit right here.....Gotta disagree on Tupac. Yes rap had been around long before him. Nwa & Ice T paved the way for gangster rap. But imo Tupac and biggie took it to the next level. Adding to the gangster rap foundation. Along with Nas JayZ Snoop and tons more. All play a part to the rap history.
Gotta remember the DJ went to prison for bank robbery too. I loved the Lost Boyz, but they probably wouldve faded away in the 2000s like a lot of 90s acts. Times change. But their music was still dope.
You got me about to dig in my crates and listen to them though (by dig in my crates I mean get on my computer. I uploaded all my old CDs)
