Holidays: To Diet or Not?

Amidst the holiday season, do you maintain your diet through the holidays or do you cheat? Especially over Thanksgiving, I found it difficult to "stay on track"... What methods do you use to overcome those holiday pounds?

I'm a believer of a cheat day - just don't overdo it. Two consecutive bad meals one day a week keeps me sane as well as my metabolism from going into a rut (so I hear). Just PLAN for them ie. if you're going to have a big Thanksgiving meal, make Thurs your cheat day. I believe CONSISTENCY NOT PERFECTION is the name of the game.

Oh one more tip, after you eat like a pig, remember how it feels to feel like to be a fat boy. Don't beat yourself up, but keep it in the back of your mind. It'll keep you motivated when it's time to go back to your healthy diet.

Hope this helps.

I like your psychology behind that! I've always struggled eating clean through the holidays.. the food is great and there's tons of it, too! lol

Thanks but I can't take all the credit. I learned that philosophy from my first workout regimen, "Body for Life" by Bill Phillips ;)

I will be off and going home for 2 weeks. I will eat anything I want at least once a day while I am gone, BUT I will workout every day but Xmas. I think we should enjoy holidays and not worry so much about what we are eating. Life is too short. Eat, drink, and be merry over the holidays.
