How do you know if your needle is in your muscle.

May be a silly question but when injecting do you guys feel the needle go into your muscle?

I haven't injected IM for a few years but I remember when I used to it was only glutes and I'd feel a sensitive spot but that was always when the needle (25g 1.25inch) was all the way in.

Is it normal to feel this? Or shouldn't you feel anything. This post is just for curiosity I'm not pinning atm.

Yeah it's buried but when I push to get the full needle in I get like a sharp sensitive pin pain doesn't hurt but just feels uncomfortable is that indicating I've pushed it in too far ?
This was glute as that's the only place I pin

You get a sharp pain when you press something sharp into your body? Man, that’s crazy.

I have no idea what that is. I generally feel nothing aside from the initial breaching of the skin.
Yeah I'm not too sure tbh, once I've breached the skin I push slow until most of the needles in but when I get to around 1.25inch I feel that sensation I just always thought it was me entering the muscle (glute)

To be honest I always aspirate on IM injections. Wasn't sure if there was a different feel to aspirating subq than IM from what the above poster put.

1.25" needle is overkill longest I'll use is 5/8". IM vs sub q doesn't feel any different during the injection but after sub q I always get lumps that hurt tried various methods of sub q none worked.

I know what you’re talking about. It’s normal. I don’t get them all the time, but I do get them. Just a nerve.

i always aspirate and then i know for sure, i'm into muscle, before injecting.
Do tell how this lets you know you are in the muscle? The only thing aspirating will tell you is if you are in a vein or blood vessel, or not.

Its also a pretty useless thing to do anymore. I havent done it in about 4yrs and pin daily on blast
