One long standing affair with a well connected old man is all it takes (took).
Not "sleeping her way to the top" exactly, but opened doors and put her in proximity to opportunities. I don't really hold that against her. I doubt it was the intent to start. In an age gap relationship the physical attractiveness he's not providing has to be compensated for something else. Just like her inability to provide the kind of sophisticated company he's used to is made up for by her youth and energy. Expensive trips, gifts and dinners only go so far, so it's not unsurprising he'd use his power to give her career a boost. Happens all the time. Like back to ancient Rome and before.

She's not nearly attractive enough (or charismatic enough) to get with one powerful guy after another like a true gold digger. She was attracted to one powerful, wealthy, connected guy, in her early 20s and he gave her a head start. This is such a common dynamic yet nearly invisible to "polite middle class society".
If anything it was likely a sign he cared for her future, and not a transactional thing. She was too unsophisticated and stupid to even ask for that kind of favor. Of course it sowed the seeds of her ditching him as his success and money wasn't as valuable to her anymore, deciding to upgrade bed partners to something younger and more visually appealing. Again, a blind spot for smitten old guys who find themselves in those kinds of relationships, not realizing he would've had to give her enough to keep her happy, but not so much she didn't need him anymore to keep her around.
In any case, don't care for her personally. Just a face for a large political machine as so many politicians are.

A hot guy is of course going to get his foot in the door for a night, but no woman wants to take care of any guy, financially, unless she's a total dog.
Money and looks is the killer combination, but as most women learn, guys in that position have no need to be loyal. It isn't even natural, if we're going to be brutally honest. Top specimen males are supposed to spread those good genetics far and wide, for the good of the species.
Most of us land somewhere in the middle and hopefully find one long term relationship that's good enough for both.

I may see things differently. I see many of my elders in positions where they have worked overtime for years and reaped the fruits of their labor with promotions and responsibilities. I just see easy office vag as easy vag in these types of situations. These guys wouldn't venture out of work usually because work is their home.

I run a successful business, here's a difficult truth: if you don't like the 9-5, you will not enjoy business ownership... ownership is 24/7. Are you prepared to accept that you never again get to clock out at the end of the day/week? It is like raising a child that doesn't necessarily ever "grow up". Nights, weekends, holidays, etc... You'll either be actively working or you'll be lost in thought trying to figure out how to maintain it or grow it. Add employees to the mix and it gets infinitely more complicated from there.
If the business is wildly successful, which is statistically unlikely, and you do increase your income significantly - it's almost a certainty that your cost of living will increase in tandem. In other words, rich won't feel as rich as you expected it to.
While I am profoundly grateful for the luck and opportunities I've gotten in this life - I'd be lying if I said that I didn't occasionally fantasize about trading it in for a job where it can be someone else's headache to make sure everyone gets a paycheck at the end of the week. However, at the end of the day, I wouldn't actually trade any of it in... but I do know for certain that most people don't know what they're signing up for with business ownership. The grass always seems green from the outside looking in.
All of that said, I don't know what skills you have... but I will say that real estate investments are probably the most "doable" business venture for someone who wants to make some moves in life and isn't already in a unique position to start a business of their own. You'll also probably learn fairly fast whether you have what it takes to pull it off before you get too deep in over your head.

Not sure net worth but easy 6 figures annually (real job). I don't count side hustles but they supply more than lunch money. I highly recommend everyone with enough time to play on bodybuilding forums should dedicate some of that time to become active on pursuing more avenues of income.
Just start a youtube channel and talk about your boring job or fast food joints. I never did but seems like a legit side hustle for beginners.

Fantastic advice. The amount of time you can play with this hobby is insane. As is said this is all a rich person's game. If you haven't done the delayed gratification yet to establish some net worth, do it before playing around here or at least diversify as you state. Almost nobody getting rich off BB unless they are selling something. Nice Job.
