How to measure volume beyond failure?

Figure I’ll start a little discussion and see what y’all think…

For the past 4-5 months I’ve been doing a lot of volume training. High rep stuff. I recently switched back to more HIT style training, except going well beyond failure—which I’m not accustomed to.
We all know (or should know) RIR / RPE, etc. but how do we measure for volume beyond failure? Drop sets, rest pause, tempos, iso, etc.
I’ve personally come to the conclusion that it just takes a better understanding of your body and needs to be auto regulated… but I’m interested in hearing what Meso thinks? This is mostly for folks who track their workouts—if you don’t, I guess it wouldn’t matter.

Id just count the reps you did until failure and then add the dropset reps/weight or whatever intensity technique you are doing.

Does that give you a good answer?

Its hard so say how many sets a dropset/restpause set is versus a straight set but in general i'd just count every set that is less then 1RIR and count that as a workset.

just find a way to standardize it within your own programming so you can keep it consitent and manipulate the programming based on your needs.

i don’t add them to total volume I count them as part of the set.
I only count failure sets. I have 2 working sets per exercise a top end set and a back off set.
I add an intensifier or beyond failure technique to every back off set. I count it as one set.
My rir is 0 and my rpe is beyond 10
