How to reduce BP fast (same day)?

Hi guys, tomorrow I have a very important test and I need my BP to behave. It's a test that I already failed once due to my bp

Before taking telmisartan and nebivolol I had 160-170/90 BP and 100 rhr. Soon after starting medication I got 135/60 and 70 rhr. I've been taking this combo for around 10 days, but today I checked and I have 150/80 and rhr 85

Where I'm from I can get any pills from the pharmacy with a little effort so what BP medicine will help me without needing time to build up ?

How is not passing a test the catalyst for addressing this, you have dangerous BP levels and can’t manage it, stop taking gear or take less of it. Obviously, this isn’t a priority or important to you since you’re waiting until last minute and trying to address the issue in 10 days.

To get it to drop down to normotensive in that period of time while already (presumably maxing out) an ARB and BB, it is certainly possible, but would be risky at best and I would not personally feel comfortable giving that advice.

Reschedule whatever the test is, lose the gear/drop to a cruise, get your BP under control.

I got nifedipine which is calcium channel blocker and took like 80mg ER, redosed on the nebivolol and telmeristan and it looks good. Also the cuff is xl size but if I put it too up on my hand it measures a lot more. I need to have it close to the elbow to measure correctly. Also put the same cuff on my forearm and it worked surprisingly well.

Also I'm taking 0.15 mg of clonidine for sleep been taking it for some weeks and it seemed to don't work so much.Anyway BP is overrated, it's a way to measure something so it's better then nothing but in some cases it's useless.

Clonidine is what they give in urgent care situations.

When I had my life insurance exam, I thought I'd be slick and took some Propranolol (40mg) prior to exam. Turns out they test for metabolites for a number of BP meds as part of the bloodwork. I don't have high BP, but white coat is real for me. Having high BP show on the exam meant a more expensive monthly payment. Fortunately, the bloodwork didn't show any metabolites for the Propranolol.

But anyway, I'll be in a similar situation soon having to get a physical for pre-op for some cosmetic surgery and plan on using Clonidine this time.

What BP level you think you get when you do a deadlift PR ? With ur logic we all should be dead. For sedentary obese people maybe BP is a good indicator but bro I have muscle on my hand, when that cuff squeeze me it's hard to reach my artery. On my forearm I had as low as 105 sys. With my specific cuff I need to have it right above elbow , 3-4 cm up and I get +25 sys/dus. This doesn't scare me personally but to each their own.

Clonidine doesn't work for me. I had it for sleep purposes and i still came with tahycardy 112 rhr and 150/80. Maybe I dosed it too early but I doubt it. Nebivolol 10mg took care of my rhr too.

Try to get them to use a manual meter on you since it's more exact and usually lower.

I guess after my experience I can recommend nifedipine too

That's ridiculous logic. Momentary peaks of BP during exertion does not have any relation to steady state high levels of BP.

How is he supposed to know you don't know how to take your blood pressure correctly?

You told him your BP is at levels that will almost certainly shorten your life (or ruin quality of living), puts you at higher risk for stroke/heart attack/dementia/kidney issues/etc. Would you prefer or expect him to say "looks good chief! Keep it up "?

Do you always get reliable results always from ur BP meter ? I never get 2 results the same no matter how much I try. On the paper that my machibe came with say that if u have a full bladder the result can be +10 sys. This shit isn't exactly hard science. Measuring the tension in an artery in your hand, and the right hand and left hand will have different results and you can't speak and move and whatever cus you will skew ur results

If you tell someone you have 150/80, what do you want them to think?

When I hear that, I assume you regularly take your BP and are giving us the average/best estimate of your actual BP, which by those numbers is quite hypertensive and bad for your health. I don't assume "well maybe this number he gave me was just a fluke".

Propranolol or however it's called.that should fix it. I guess

Yah I think they are just trying to rationalize it, probably how they ended up being ok with their current BP. They obviously got enough high BP readings from actual doctors as well or they wouldn’t have made this post. Like they mention needing to pass some test for their BP, I doubt that is a self administered test.

My friend, they don't call high blood pressure "The silent killer" for nothing. Let that thing sit out of control for too long, and you'll find yourself with congestive heart failure.

This is part of my issue with BP.

My doc has given me a couple different BP monitors for home BP logging. I can put it on, get 105/65. Then take the cuff off and put it back on the exact same way and get 128/80 not 1 minute later. I've even replicated it in the doctor's office, she measured me at like 150 over something. We went one room over to a different cuff and I was like 123/80. Even she agreed that BP monitors must hate me. But how the fuck can a BP reading even be meaningful when it can change so much in such a short time?

If you need to drop BP fast with stuff you probably have around the house or can get next day Amazon its magnesium and beet root powder. Vitamin e supposedly helps but I've never seen it put a dent in mine. Baby aspirin, tadalafil, Coq10, fish oil couldn't hurt.
Magnesium is a calcium channel blocker. I'll usually take two scoops with every meal of the nutricost Magnesium glycinate. That's 400 something mg of magnesium. You can also make a skin spray pretty easily with mag sulfate. Just be careful that whatever mag you get doesn't have mag oxide mixed in. It will work but it always gives me diarrhea. Foods high in magnesium help too.

Also 15g of beet root powder always drops my bp by a good amount.

Fasting and cardio are HUGE at dropping BP. Skip eating or just eat a little protein during the day if you have to eat and do your cardio.

Amlodipine is also a calcium channel blocker that is dirt cheap. I get no sides from it but some people report fluid build up in ankles so they prefer the more expensive cilnidipine. Telmisartan supposedly prevents the sides you can get from Amlodipine
