I belong to a very good gym in the Chicago area. I have been at this gym for over seven years. It’s a very good gym in which they have the best equipment than any gym I’ve visited. Here’s the thing. In 2002 me and the owner got into a discussion. I was thinking about doing a bodybuilding contest.
After discussing it with him, he told me that if I did a show and placed top five he’d place my picture on the gym wall. To give a bit of information about this gym, there are 100’s of bodybuilding photos on the gym wall. There are pictures of professional, National level and local level competitors.
So in 2003 I decided to do my first bodybuilding contest. I entered the NPC 2003 ILL and won first in the Novice and second in the open. Weeks after the contest I reminded the owner he promised if I did a show he’d place my photo onto the wall of other competitors.
He replied “of course just bring the picture.” A week later I brought a photo for him to hang up. Weeks past, and months and he never hang the picture. I constantly remind him and he says, “yeah I’m going to get that picture posted I just had some new things occur at the gym and once they get resolved I’ll be hanging pictures.”
More weeks pass. Finally I just brought another photo which was signed and framed. I gave the picture to an assistant to the owner and he hung the picture up. Three weeks goes by and the picture is missing. I ask the assistant what happened to the picture and he said he would find out and let me know.
A week later the picture is back up. A month later the picture is gone again and can never be found. I’m told someone stole the picture but they don’t know who did it. So it’s been a full year and I still have no photo of me after winning the NPC ILL.
Just recently ( around Feb) a gym who works out at my gym is prepping for a power lifting show. He places first in the master class.
Two weeks later his picture is framed and placed you know where ( up on the wall). So what took me over a year to get my picture onto the gym’s wall to later be removed this gym gets a nice framed photo of his winning and it takes a two weeks.
And his picture never comes up missing.
How should I handle this? Should I just shrug it off as no big deal and now I know how people are or what?
