I am on Mirapex (Prami): when do libido benefits kick in?

Wtf? Didnt you just create a thread like 2 wees ago espousing the benefits of a new ssri you had just started?!?! What the hell man? seems to me you are just experimenting with things for short intervals? None of my busines really you do whatever you want I just find it bizarre how you were telling everyone not to "knock ssris" now it seemds youve even givven up on that and are on to something else...in 2 weeks. interesting.

I'm still on prozac. Prami is augmenting prozac.

I have tried a few different ssris and i feel that prozac has the least side effects.

Most report that the sleppiness passes in a few days to weeks. There seems to be wide variations in the effects in different people.
I find it hard to understand how T makes you worse.

Actually speaking of that... not much sleepiness today. Today is day 6 on prami.

Where is the evidence of the prosexual effects of pramipexole?

I tried it myself, at large doses and it did nothing but make me extremely sleepy.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but you tried it for a day and then said it "sucked" ...

I'm gonna give it 7-10 days and see what it can do. The sleepiness has gone down a bit, although it still does make me drowsy. I am debating just taking it @ night.

Also dude, it's advised to implement a slow taper on this medication. Which means you work upto a higher dose. And if you achieve libido at lower dose, you don't increase the dose.

Jumping to a high dose would cause a slew of side effects i'd imagine. Including naseau etc

According to the official literature for the drug, there is no pro-sexual side effect. The side effects do, however, include both decreased libido and impotence. It is not an anti-depressant. It is a Parkinson's/RLS medication

The reports of increased libido were rare cases (multi-million dollar lawsuits) of compulsive behavior (NOT libido) in men that manifested itself as a gambling or sex addiction. These men presumably had no prior complaints of libido loss or sexual dysfunction. You don't have either a healthy endocrine system or Parkinson's disease, so you should not expect this to happen to you.

The source of the folklore surrounding the drug is bodybuilding message boards, and I really doubt that your doctor wrote you a prescription based on those tall tales. Everything from maca, to tea, to chocolate causes "major wood" for juicers, so, I wouldn't put much faith into any of it. You can get the exact same enthusiastic, anecdotal reports of libido increase for almost any drug -- even Wellbutrin or Metformin! Pramipexole is not special.

Did your doctor really prescribe this for you, or did you get it yourself?

Doctor prescribed. I have no reason to lie about that. If i got it myself, I would say, I got it myself.

That said, I think this trial is gonna come to an end pretty soon. I can't deal with the excessive drowsiness right after taking this med. I basically have to pass out and sometimes im out for an hour+

Also no libido benefits (day 8 today) .... basically no benefits at all. Only sides.

After reading through threads on mind and muscle forum, it seems NO ONE has been able to tolerate this med longterm. The longest account i've seen is maybe 3 months... and then people quit it because the side effects > benefits.

Oh well at least I can say I tried it....

Does anyone think I should give it more time?

Nah, just quit it. I think it's time for a fresh start. What are your issues on whatever medications you are on now? I'm confused as to where you are at.

Here's where I am at:

I am off wellbutrin.
I am off testosterone.

I am taking .5 mirapex/day (gonna stop today probably)
I am taking 10mg prozac before bed (not sure if its doing that much but it chills me out a bit, less mental noise)

I am going to stay off testosterone until september and see how I feel. Last night I had a really good workout, one of the best i've had in a while, and i wasn't even on testosterone. I love working out off testosterone because I can actually feel myself getting jacked up!! and i feel the natty test boost from squats and shit.

My plan is to stay off testosterone until December and then re evaluate.

Ideally I would like to stay off testosterone until I am done grad school (2 years) and then consider it again.

I'm feeling okay off testosterone.

I may consider replacing prozac with 5HTP before bedtime.

The irony is, i feel better now than I did when I was on wellbutrin + testosterone. Mood wise anyway.

Libido is a work in progress, but i'm okay with a low libido for now.

Keep us posted on how your DA receptor up regulation goes.
The libido effect doesnt seem to happen to every one. I experienced a little and stopped because of sleepeness. My theory is that differing innate neurotransmitter profiles produce differing results within the population. One guy has been on it for over a year and thinks its a great benefit with no sleepiness.

I stopped the mirapex more than 24 hours ago.

Today I feel pretty damn good.... is this my DA receptors up regulating?
