I don't think the values if degrees has changed anywhere. People want to enrol in a shit course with no demand just so they can party their way thru college and then expect to graduate as a CEO....laughable.
That's why immigration is essential to the Western economy.
Lots of smart Indians etc that are prepared to work and do hard courses of study.
This is probably the case. I just think the amount of useful courses in universities is so limited though. Lots of people I know who graduated 4 year degrees went to community college afterwards and what they studied there is what got them their career or job. It's not only a better value, it's more productive. I would say this is the case 8 times out of 10 based on what I've seen.
If I were a much smarter man, I would have gotten into the trades after high school. The pay is great in Ontario for a lot of them, plus plenty of over-time available , and the issue with demand won't be resolved any time soon despite the pay because it's a generational issue it seems. Like you said, people want to get shitfaced 7 days a week and put in the least amount of work possible. That's why they get a masters degree in underwater basket weaving instead of doing something useful I guess.
