Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler cancelled his guest posing appearance at the Swedish Fitness Festival in Gothenberg this weekend as a result of what happened to Toney:

I understand you have a packed house at the Fitness Festival in Gothenburg today.

Let me tell you this; I would have loved to be there and guestpose for you.

But; as you know, this week Toney Freeman was taken by the police in Sweden and brought in for questioning.

I have talked to Toney. He says that this happened just because he is a professional bodybuilder.

If this could happen to Toney Freeman, it could clearly also happen to me as the current Mr Olympia.

Having seen how this damaged Toney Freeman via the internet, I simply could not risk to experience the same.

So, based on advice given to me here in the US, I decided that I could not come to Sweden this time.

I know that I have dissapointed many of you. I am disappointed myself for what has happened.

But please try to understand my situation and what would have happened if I had received the same treatment as Freeman experienced.

If you do not understand me, I hope you can forgive me.

I know that the organisers have been working hard to bring in other guest posers.

Some of the guys you will see, may even be the future Mr Olympia some day.

But I will tell you this; none of them will beat me next September here in Las Vegas. Because I will take my 5th Mr Olympia title and be in my best shape ever.

What want to know is what law makes it illegal to enter Sweden with drugs in your system, if the drugs were actually injected or injested BEFORE you arrive in Sweden?

What is the legal drinking age in Sweden? If someone underage drinks alcohol in a different country and the police find out, do they arrest him when he arrives in Sweden?

I think the muscle profiling is an exploratory procedure where they try to stumble upon evidence of distribution. I think personal possession penalties are relatively minor (much less severe than U.S.). In Toney's case, I think a police chief just wanted some headlines - a lot of such cases are just for self-promotion than actual concern with public safety.

As far as whether USE is criminalized (even by non-residents), I don't think so but could be wrong. There are numerous problems with that in an internatoinal community where use of certain substances is legal in some jurisdictions and not others.

It remains to be seen whether they introduce charges. I don't think Toney would travel with anything he didn't have a medical prescription for and I would find it surprising if they fined or charged him with any crime based on that or on the results of positive steroid test alone.

He wasn't ever arrested. Just detained, questioned, and asked to submit urine sample. I have no idea what would have happened if he refused. He was released shortly afterward. He cancelled his scheduled appearances and left Sweden shortly tthereafter.
