Heh...Fiat currency. I can't see these Bitcoins lasting. There's no true value to them they're worth nothing. Seems they're value is what others that have purchased them say they're worth.?. It's a awesome concept of a world wide currency but in order for something like that to take off and become huge it would have to have some kind of reel value backing it.

U.S. Currency is fiat currency as well. There is no real value backing any major currency today besides the government saying it has value. Other than that, it's just paper. So why won't bitcoins last? Because they are not a physical object you can hold onto? As long as people put some sort of worth on them, they should retain some sort of value. That is, as long as the government doesn't put put their nose into the bitcoin marketplace.

Most currency is back by precious metals. U.S. currency used to be backed by precious metals but the government took all that out of circulation. The only reason U.S. currency works as a fiat currency is because it already had a whole country of people using it before it became fiat. .
