immediate return of nocturnal erections after quitting smoking

We all know of the connection of smoking and ed, and I've read some studies of improvement after long term cessation, but I've read some posts from others about an immediate return of nocturnal erections after just quitting a day or two.

I didn't think much of it but my brother just quit smoking and he said he woke up with rock hard wood on the second day of quitting which he hasn't had in years. To add to this, he is using the patch so he's still getting nicotine which I've read countless times is the main vasoconstrictor. Also he smoked almost ten years longer than I have.

I have quit unsuccessfully for a period of about three weeks with no return of nocturnal erections. So why do some report this immediate return? If it's artery hardening from smoking I would think that it would take much longer than 48 he's, especially when still using nicotine replacement therapy.

And what is that a sign of when one quits but doesn't enjoy this immediate benefit? Will it take longer for some or is that a sign of something else wrong?

I'm really going to make this my final go at quitting smoking and just wanted to see if others had a better understanding of this.

my urologist said that a lot of his patients smoke and unless you have serious cardiovascular issues, its just not common in men under the age of 65. ED from smoking that is.

Of course smoking is evil and I have to quit (on day two right now) but like many others here ed is on the forefront of my mind right now. Instead of thinking about libido, ability to achieve orgasim, etc I thought about the daily maintenance of penile health which is getting nocturnal erections. It would have made me very happy when I have quit in the past to see a return of nocturnal erections.

So when I hear of such a sudden return for some, I'm surprised because artery hardening can't possibly be reversing so quickly and especially when they are using nicotine replacement therapy (which again is supposedly the main vasoconstrictor). So what is at play here? A huge surge in nitric oxide production? If so, why do only some get this?

I googled a fair bit but besides posts like, 'Wow! Day two and great morning wood!' I can't find any explanation. I guess my hopes are that this does happen for others but takes longer, but I have a feeling that is not the case.

My field was law, not medicine, but I am guessing that it may be psychological. withdrawal from nicotine actually happens pretty quickly chemically...about a week. The rest is psychological.

Good luck on quiting. I tried gum, patches, etc. I finally kicked it cold turkey many years ago. I know it is not easy but nothing worth it ever is. When my 5 year old came home from kindergarten so many years ago, and cried about what she learned smoking does in school, that was all I needed. Just find the right thing to motivate you and go one day at a time!

I highly doubt it's psychological as this is one of one of the first questions a doctor will ask when determining if ed is psychological ( do you have morning erections?)

I appreciate the post to stay motivated on quitting (and the predator joke) but I'm looking for information on what I'm asking about.

I understand it seems most do not. As I mentioned I've seen various posts of people getting this immediate benefit and I wanted to know why, or rather, why I don't get this benefit. People seem like a knowledgeable bunch around here so I was hoping some had input on this.

Again, my only guess would be a NO increase but it's just a guess.

Honestly, what ever it takes, quit smoking, before it quits you.
I lost my father to "Lung Cancer". Believe me, you don't want to go out that way, it's not pretty for you or your family. Do it for someone you love.............JP

I think we gets you and likez yur style... LOL:D

I have noted the same thing.. Its funny you post this now cause I have been trying to quit dipping and really laid off yesterday and this morning awoke with awsome wood. The kind where yur cock is so freakin FAT you can tell its been going on all night. And this is GREAT for erectile capacity when awake of course...:) And on that note- I SWEAR I am really not sure that years on TRT is not growing my cock...! Its just so rare I lay of the chemicals long enough to ever get great wood.:D

I will add that recently I have cut way back on nicotine from smokeless or gum and I really am starting to believe that the nicotine is the worst of all the things I do to my wood.

I really suspect it has to do with nicotine related dopamine response in the brain and around the body even. Thus the nicotine affecting hormones via the Serotonin/Dop balancing act. I am starting to think its RUINED MY ORGASMS for years too, as opposed to just not enough experience with (as pertaining to age type "damage" it till MANY years of use..

I COULD be a constrictive effect of the nicotine, but I just don't think. I also take adderall and was really suspecting as primary culpret. It does help when I quit that one, but the effects diminish after a week off amphetamines it seems, and something starts affecting again.

I ALWAYS suspect CARDIO as primary - IF .... I had to bet a bunch of money on the proposition... Which SMOKING IS THE WORST. Shit is just poison. Its a shame to see folks smoke and NEVER UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS THAT THEY ARE GETTING OUT OF THE CIGARETTE. I swear many folks get addicted to the Carbon Monoxide poisoning type BUZZ simply due to CO starving the brain for oxygen. Its really the same effect as Nitrous Oxide on the body on a low side of that scale.

But in terms of circulatory constriction from nicotine (straight up and not Cardio capacity diminishment), I am thinking that nicotine is equally detrimental IN A DIFFERENT way and even synergizing with my adderall in a compounding way..

Just quit the cigs and start chewing! "Which one of you slack jawed faggots wants a chaw? This shit will make you a goddamn sexual Tyranasaurus Rex!" [:o)][:o)][:o)]

BBC, experiment with some anti psychotics. You wont want to get anything accomplished with your life but you will cum so hard your wont really give a fuck.

I only mention this because I know you will go out and try it.

Actually.... Did you REALLY underestimate me that badly.....! ? LOL

OF COURSE I HAVE...:D;):drooling:

I hazard that you are referring to seroquel?? I do think I read somewhere that part of the receptor effects is the relaxation of muscles in seminal vessels/ vs defrens. I recently took some to take a chill after reading that and did not interesting gizz change... Not sure long term..

Ive taken seroquel at 50mg sleep dose and the time recent was a 150 Time release. Not linear not COOL..:eek::eek: Bad acid if not accustomed. (and ive taken 600 of that stuff...) LOL

Knew a chick on it back in my thirties as a little pooh/bah roomy back when I was Jack Tripper and living with two of em(the days)... Anyways, she was a batshit messed up little thing and gave me some. Glad I did not try back then.!! Sheeeiiit, just trying to take seroquel over 100mgs without recent experience will fukin put u on Marz..! The tough part is not checking yurself into the ER in the first 3-5 hours after taking. Lol. Then it's like being stoned for 2 days straight.. I can't even believe I took that much for a month or two once. Cockhole fucking medical/political institution today would have you cut yur own toe off and eat it prior to admitting they fucked up deinstitutionslizibg. I mean shit, where the fuk am I gonna go when I get really hungry DAMNIT..! Lol

Ohh, but I had a buddy tell me later that zyprexa was like acid ton him when he goofed with it once. And his name is mikey. So u know what he likes to eat. But not that one again. It reminds me we need a thread about how big pharma and politics tried to slip one of these drugs on the market and zombitize a segment of the ssri lovers group sight unseen. Has anyone noted how that little adjunct for yur ssri not quite cutting it is starting to resemble an antipsychotic in prescribing info (Abilify). AND I GUARANFUKINTEE YOU IT WAS NOT EVEN HINTED TO BACK WHEN HITTING THE MARKET BIG MID-2000's. Read the PI now. It reads like fukin lithium (or seroquel if my BS removed lol). But that's a far fuckin cry from what they presented as..
