O.k Guys Heres The Deal, Benching Heavy Weight My Entire Body Was Fully Flexed To Press The Weght, I Turned My Head And Pulled Or Tore Something In The Upper Leftside Back. I Felt Very Minor Pain (and Having Walked Two Miles In The Rain To Get To The Gym) Did Not Want To Stop My Work Out. So I Completed My Work Out. Now I Can Barely Turn My Neck And I Am Bullshit I Have To Lay Off The Weights. I Will Continue To Shoot Ed Tren/prop With Hope Of Being Back In The Gym By Late Next Week. If Pain Continues I Will See The Doc. How Long Can I Stay On As W/ Out The Gym? Please Reply W/ Any Helpfull Info.

More Pissed I Can't Lift Than The Fact I'm Injured!!!!

How far into your cycle are you? I would guess you just pulled something and will probably be better in a week. If not then you might want to take a break to save the gear for future use. So my advice is stay on for another week, maybe even two. You might want to go see a doc. Unless of course you have an HMO who will just blow you off with some motrin after a 10 or 15 min visit. When I go to my doctor I can almost always predict exactly what there going to say or prescribe. It's a fucking joke. You have to advocate for yourself and be insistant just to have your doc run the appropriate tests or scans. Doctors can be a real joke.

I AM MID CYCLE AND I AGREE I GO TO THE DOCTOR, WAIT TWO HOURS, THEN LISTEN TO HIM TELL ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW. THANX FOR THE ADVICE, I WILL SAY ON FOR A WEEK AND A 1/2 IF I STILL CAN'T LIFT I DROP THE JUICE.

you may have a grade 2 strain of the tendons or muscles. You need to go right now to the store (walgreens or something) and buy yourself a neck brace. it costs like 15-20bucks. wear that as much as you can, especially at home when nobody can see how dumb you look in that big white collar. Keep it on as long as you can, as much as you can.

ICE your neck 3-4 times a day. get lots of ice cubes and place into a walmart bag or some plastic bag, and wrap it really snug around your injured area for 25mins. dont wrap it in a towel because you reduce the efficacy of the ice.
rest for an hour, or until you get sensation back in your skin, then ice again for 25mins. repeat this 3-4 times a day, everyday for at least the next 5 days. Dont wimp out.

now if you dont get better, or if you see hemorrhaging, or your condition worsens, you may have a grade 3 strain in which case you may need surgery to reattach the tendons. this is the worst case scenario and I highly doubt you have that, but you want to err on the side of caution. if this happens, go see your doc.

Lastly, dont work that area. Suck it up and deal with one week of not working out, but dont use that muscle at all. not even to stabilize. no gym for 1 week. Your test will preserve your muscles and you wont lose that much, if at all. And when you do start back in the gym, warm up as long as you can....make damn sure you have that area nicely flushed with blood and warmth. Dont risk re-injury.

Do this bro, dont lose your hard-earned gains and money to shit like this.

lol the neck brace is a bit overkill :)

go to a physio, get it checked. they will quickly evaluate which muscle is affected, and advice you. ice is a great idea, rest is a great idea, and compression is a great idea (dont strangle yourself....lean onto something.) but do this after you have been assessed.

anti inflammatory drugs will probably help you quite a bit, but dont use them at a high dose or for long periods as you may mask pain and retard healing.

dont muck about, get it done soon. little things like this have a nasty habit of turning into big things

personally i think youve probably twanged a muscle, and should be able to train other bodyparts in a few days (ie 3)

worked legs lately? got a pin loaded leg press?

I WILL TAKE EVERY-ONES ADVICE AS FAR AS THE NECK BRACE, I WOULD WEAR A PINK LAMP SHADE ON MY HEAD IF IT WOULD GET ME BACK IN THE GYM QUICKER.

LOL I love the replies here. :)

yes the neck brace seems excessive to some of you but it immobilizes the neck and speeds up recovery. (which is what this bro wants right?)

Ice

Never turn your head while benching!! (I'm sure you know that now)
Bro did same thing once. I believe the brace would really help (wear it at home?) You've got to keep your head as straight as you can for a few days. Be very careful how you sleep. after 24-48 hrs. try some very easy shrugs. (always helped my neck pain) If it does'nt feel better by then, go see your local Quack. I hate docs. but they have good equipment to check you out with.
Good luck Bro. Let us know how your doing. GB

Same thing happened to me in that my wrists and my right elbow blew out (swelled up quite a bit).

I stayed on the TEST, took a week and a half off (had to), and then started the HST program, because it solves several problems and has some advantages.

First, you are supposed to take a week off, to decondition your body to training, so I don't feel like I wasted that time.

Second, you start out with two weeks of 15 reps, and REALLY light weights the first week, fairly light the second, working up to your 15 rep max on the last workout of the second week. That is perfect for furthering your recuperation, and especially is focused on bringing your tendon attachments up to speed.

Third, it's based on constant adaptation, so your body doesn't have to go all out constantly, so if you can do a cycle or two (6-8 weeks long each), you can really get your bod into a healthy state. The 5-6th weeks, for instance, you do only sets of 5 reps, so very heavy weights, but then you go back to 15 reps, so no constant strain on those ligs.

you sound like you are way too tensed up when lifting (same as me), so the fourth thing this does is let you focus on form and differential relaxation (making sure everything else in your body is relaxed when lifting, except the muscles in question). When you get to the heavy weights, your body is used to staying relaxed...

Inadvertantly because of this, I think I found out why squating gives me hemmoroids (grin). (okay, sorry)

Ha ha...

Anyway, good luck recovering man. Ironically test makes you testy, so your probably more aggravated at this than normal too.

If your doctor was worth a shit he would have at least given you some vicodin or soma. I recommend getting some soma from where ever you need to and chilling out for a few days. Soma combined w/rest is supposed to help accelerate recovery. It's best to take it at bedtime so you get good relaxed sleep.

That is one serously f'd up avatar man... SUCH a fine butt, you can't help but imagine, and then you see Homer Simpson's mouth there...

I'm going to need treatment.
