Injury Question

I have an injury I have never experienced before and I am wondering if any of you have an idea what it is. I have a pain in my elbow and in the area between my chest and shoulder. They seem to be connected somehow. It hurts with any type of lateral movement, even picking up a glass of water, yet doing exercises such as dumbell rows or inclines doesn't hurt much at all. I have taken a week off of lifting but it hasn't seemed to help. Any input would be appreciated.

You probably aren't doing enough external rotation work for you shoulders. I assume this to be the case because few bodybuilders do.

Do you do direct external rotations, upright rows, power cleans, cuban rotations, etc? If not, add at least one of those movements in and train it hard. If you already do, add another anyway.

Are you doing a lot of tricep extenion type movements? If so, stop doing them, and replace them with compound tricep movements. Many athletes, myself included, are just not capable of doing tri extension movements. Don't worry, as this won't limit your tricep development. Compound movements are better anyway. Look at the triceps of powerlifters, Olympic Lifters, and Strongmen. Pressing will do the trick, if you do it properly.

No, I do dumbell rows but not upright rows and none of the others. I have been meaning to start doing cleans so perhaps this is a good time to begin doing so. . Also, I have been doing almost exclusively extension type exercises lately. Thanks for your input.
