Intercostal neuralgia??

About a year ago, I rolled over in bed and had a shooting pain on the left side of my back right below my scapula. A few days later, the pain began to radiate across my entire left rib cage.

Went to my doc last december and they did an MRI, but couldn't really find anything wrong. Well, I got really busy at work and just did not have the time to get it looked into more and get it takencare of. Needless to say, I have been out of the gym for almost a year now and it is absolutely killing me. Over the summer, I was getting cortisone shots to help manage the pain, but I finally have the time to pursure treatment.

I am seeing a neurosurgeon in about a week and a half. My family doc seems to think I have intercostal neuralgia, or nerve damage between my ribs.

Have any of you ever had this condition??

What did they do for treatment??

Did it heal you, or do you still deal with the pain???

Thanx in advance guys.

I had a very similar problem maybe two years a go, it got worse and worse until I was pretty much crying. I went to physical therapy for about 8 weeks which helped alot, but I still have the occasional flare up.
Have you talked to Gitty?

yeah, Gitty agrees that it sounds like IN. He has said that PT along with neuro stimulation may help.

My doctor has said that the most common treatment is a nerve block, but I"m not really sure what that entails.

And yes, it is painful as hell.
