Is it safe to order home brew stuff on amazon

Like the title says, is it safe to order beakers, stirrer, and filters etc.... on Amazon? Should I have them sent somewhere else? Opinions please. Will only be used for personal needs.

Also what size vials should I get 10 or 30? Do you trust the ones claiming to be sterile or do you sterilize them yoursef?

I don't think it's much different than ordering similar items from any other site. Your exposure is generally the same either way unless you buy from a source with crypto.

My only concerns with Amazon is 1) quality of what you're buying... 2) if there were ever some sort of scandal with Amazon, such as them selling drug paraphernalia or lab equipment that was later found to be used manufacturing meth.. etc. It could turn into a media frenzy and your exposure could be increased... Amazon would be an easy target in a way.

I'm reluctant to use 30ml vials because the stoppers tend to get chewed up with so many draws. I feel 10ml are better.

I have actually bought vials from Amazon but they weren't presealed so I sterilized them. I've bought presealed/sterilized from medical supply sites that were fine.. There's really no way to sterilize them if they're sealed. If you can buy unsealed vials that are sterilized, I'm unaware of it.. I would not use them without sterilizing again.

Thanks. Is there any difference in the filtering quality when using a flask filter vs syringe filter? Is whatman the only brand name to use?

50 to 100 ml of personal
You could get a bottle top filter. Way easier than a syringe filter.
Don't know if you saw that site I posted. I've used them for awhile. Very discreet. Brown box. No advertising. Good prices. I like bigger bottles for my personal use. When the plunger starts getting worn, I replace it. It's not hard

The quality of filtration is the same but some are better than others. Syringe filters are a pain in the ass but I've never had an issue with them clogging or breaking. Autofil bottle tops crack, clog, etc.

Good to know, and yeah syringe filters do suck for sure. Used them before.

It's simple. You open another account that you only use for purchasing supplies you need.

These are burner accounts, you can easily close them and cover up your trail.

Same thing with bank accounts, burner phones. You are leaving nothing behind, nothing is used for very long before you close it out and open a new account.

Cracked the bottom of mine... it can be difficult to know when the vacuum is a bit too strong for the plastic. Other than that though it is much less work than syringe filtering.

This last shipment I got was really bad... The filter would clog and the oil would slow down and that's when I'd have to swap to a new one or the bottom would crack soon thereafter. I never had the same issues when I first started using autos but I'll never buy another. Haven't decided what to try next... Kind of want to go with glass.

0 issues ordering from Amazon or eBay till now.
I buy pre sealed vials from Amazon. 20ml maximum. 30 ml is just way too much and the rubber will be worn out, most likely and you may end up injecting rubber. I use 25g to draw to minimize the damage done to the rubber but I am brewing with EO which makes the solution pretty thin.

I don't think that there's a difference in he filtering quality between syringe and bottle top filters as long as the pore size is the same and the membrane material is the same. I use pvdf.
Whatman is not the only brand to use. Long time ago I was using cheap Chinese ones. Make sure each is individually packaged and sterile. 0.22um pore size.

Use a bottle top filter because you will..eventually. Fuck syringe filters.

As for the bottom of the bottle top filters..just buy a borosilicate gl45 bottle and sterilize it before screwing it on the bottle top filter, don't use the plastic one as they tent to break.

This is off topic so I apologize but I saw a couple guys in this thread mention sterilizing their vials that may not have come pre-sterilized. How does one go about sterilizing vials? Ive just ordered some raws and am gathering the rest of the essentials but I’m just curious on this process
