is the tariffs going to affect gear prices from china?

Like instead of talking sense, this becomes a political argument.
You say Vietnam caved. Like WTF does US trade with vietnam? Vietnam is begging for removal of tariffs because Nike and other apparel makers divested from china and moved to vietnam. Placing a tariff on Vietnam means Nike and others start losing competitive edge and may resolve to move out to another country facing less tariffs but where they can mass produce stuff for cheap. Why do you think Nike stock took a hit?
Sheesh.
You're the one not making sense. Fair is fair. Don't like it, don't do it.

Key Imports from Vietnam to the US:
  • Electronics: Phones, computers, and electronic products are significant exports from Vietnam to the US.

  • Apparel & Textiles: Vietnam is a major supplier of clothing and textiles to the US market.

  • Footwear: A substantial portion of US footwear imports originate from Vietnam.

    • Machinery & Equipment: Vietnam exports various types of machinery and equipment to the US.
    • Other notable imports: Furniture, food, and agricultural products also contribute to the trade between the two countries

Stop posting this picture. This list was compiled by ignorant people (or perhaps I should say deliberately bad intentioned people) to deceive other ignorant people. I posted a PDF link compiled by the US govt and WTO itself, not from some doge bozo using chat gpt formula.
This is the same list telling us that Uninhabited islands placed tariffs on US goods.
You know nothing about US government, this is why you believe this nonsense you spew

Sure. I know nothing. Carry on.
As we say where I am from, no one needs to tell a blind person that the market has closed.
He will eventually find out. Have a nice life.

Is the tariffs going to raise gear prices from china? Am I over thinking this? Idk shit about tariffs.
It will most likely raise prices if there is follow through, but its a result of collateral damage. There's almost no way the price of straight up legit shipping rises without affecting 'non legit' things. Also, there are now plans to target indian pharma, so it's gonna be tight no matter where folks turn.
UGL vendors may get more creative, but if almost every country is facing import tariffs, then price will be touched.
Main factors are: 1) The route UGL chooses to use to move stuff
2) How determined customs are to enforce the tariffs

The first test comes May 2 if the deminimis removal goes ahead as scheduled

And you have no idea what or how tariffs work.
What is a tariff in simple terms?

AI Overview
In simple terms, a tariff is a tax that a country's government places on goods imported from other countries, making those goods more expensive for domestic buyers and potentially protecting domestic industries from foreign competition.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • What it is:
A tariff is essentially a duty or tax levied on imported goods.
    • Protecting domestic industries: By making imported goods more expensive, tariffs can encourage consumers to buy locally produced goods, thereby supporting domestic businesses and jobs.

    • Raising revenue: Tariffs can be a source of income for the government.

    • Negotiating trade deals: Tariffs can be used as a tool to influence trade policies of other countries.
  • How it works:
When a company imports goods into a country, they must pay the tariff to the government before the goods can be sold.
    • Ad valorem tariffs: These are calculated as a percentage of the value of the imported goods.

    • Specific tariffs: These are a fixed amount of money charged per unit of the imported good, regardless of its value.
