When the playoffs started, I predicted Spurs over the Pistons in 7.
Looks like I am gonna be wrong.
The Lakers won games 3-5 with their defense. They have completely shut Tim Duncan down. Duncan in my estimation is one of the top 4 players in the league (Duncan, Kobe, Mcgrady and Garnett), yet in the last 3 games the Lakers have made him look very pedestrian. I have been extremely extremely impressed with their defense on both Duncan and Tony Parker.
The TV analysts like to go on and on and on and on about this and that and this and that. To me, the Lakers success boils down to (1) thing - their defense. They are winning with their superb defense.

DBP, you are exactly correct...The first 2 games they were giving the Spurs wide open looks and you can't do that if you want to win...YOu need to contest every shot...Games 3-5 is like a whole different team..They help on the pick and roll and are rotating better to get at the shooters...

I was jumping up and down clapping my hands. I'm sure the neighbors heard me. That was some game. Now lets hope the Lakers can end these guys. Don't think it will be easy cuz the Spurs will be fighting and clawing.
The Lakers better be ready cuz those shots the Spurs' players missed, they won't miss in this next game. LA has to attack the basket to get the Spurs into foul trouble and they have to continue playing "stiff" defense.

,,,Been a Laker fan since 66,,,Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain,,,Fav team was Magics time there,,,Best Man to run the fast break ever and they had strong competiton,,,Celtic vs Lakers was the best finals ever ...all of them even when the Lakers lost,,,I'm enjoying the latest edition,,,Those guys out there have so much B-ball savy engraved in them that when they start fighting to pull it together things start to happen,,,I love watching Shaq dive for the ball,,,or Malone working the 2 man game with various guards,,,The pick and roll,,,Now if they could only put 40 minutes of domination together,,,I once watched the Bulls play against a very good defensive Knicks team,,,They turned the ball over 3 times for the entire game(I did not enjoy the Michael years,,,No Lakers or any real competition to push them,,,and then Utah chokes),,,I'm rambling about my favorite sport,,,Its playoff time

I'm not a laker hater nor am I a laker fan, but I gotta say, I am suprised they are still in the playoffs. Those first two games man......unbelievable turn around they have had.

lol, i picked the lakers. VDC, you are right on about the magic years. I have been a lakers fan since than. I cant stand malone, kobe, or shaq but will still root for the lakers b/c probasketball sucks for the most part. I know minnesota will have home court if they beat sac. but i still think LA has a better shot against Minn. than sacramento. Sac has enough hate for LA to make it an ugly series. I hate Divac. biggest flopping faggot ever. Malone is a close 2nd

i know it is funny. I just dislike the NBA and the lakers were always the team i liked during the magic years. I do hate the whole team pretty much lol but want them to win i guess b/c i hate all the other teams. Kinda strange huh? i am a kobe hater big time though

yes i know what you mean. u hit it head on with Kobe. I have never seen anyone force as many stupid shots as he does. When he is double or triple teamed than someone is wide open. If he goes 3 or 4 possesions w/o shooting than he goes nuts. When he plays unselfish and approaches 10 assists the lakers r unstoppable. IRonjay, LA-Sac would be a great series. They really hate each other

RIght on again with Vlady. Wow i hated watching him play the lakers. He flopped so much. it was pathetic but he did always bring his A game against us. Malone wouldve helped there tremendously. Battle of the two biggest floppers in the game. I always wondered how Malone could get rolled to the floor so much even though for the longest of times he was probably the strongest pound for pound guy in the league. Him and stockton were pretty dirty

The odd thing about the lakers is they did not put any effort into defense all season until they were down 0-2 in the semis.
Based on this I picked San Ant. to win the series. Oh well Tony Parker got shutdown/choked and they lost.
Glad i did not bet any $$
