Lord of the Rings - return of the king

I just bought tickets on fandango for tonight to see the movie and I can't believe it is nearly 4hrs long. they said 3hrs 42 min to be exact. I think this is a one shot deal for me. I don't see myself watching a 4 hr movie again no matter how good it may be. Though I do think it will be awesome. I bet it will break all kinds of records for sales too. At my theatre, 8 of the 16 times showing today are already sold out for online purchases. I guess that is an indication that the times are sold out to purchase there too. Anyhow, anyone else going to see it tonight? I am excited.

Well, I personally didn't like the first one so much cause it was slow IMO. But the second one was awesome. Much more action and the third one should be a doozy! Just like the final Star Wars will be. I am certain it will be the best in the series. I'll let you know what I thought of it tomorrow.

I saw it and loved it as I knew I would. And yes, everyone has their own opinion but I think anyone who hasnt even given these movies a chance is missing out. The first one didn't really take off till the second half of it but it was great. The second one is still the best IMO but they all had their own level of greatness and good in their own right.

Yea,, I'll have to sneak some drinks and food in on that movie. Gotta
love the wife's Big pocket book. :D

HHH

well worth it

saw it last night! it may be 3hrs 40mins, but it didn't feel like it, imo. the trilogy as a whole is incredible, but the best was definitely saved for last.

I went to the opening last week..it was awesome...very cool ending

I read the books 5 times,,,The movies definitely convey what Tolkien put down on paper,,,but every movie is followed by a longer uncut version,,,I'll just wait for the long version on this one,,,Chris Lee(Saruman) reads the Trilogy every year and all of his scenes in this version will only be on the longer version,,Man was he pissed when he found out,,,VDC

LOL VDC....you'll wait for the long version to come out? Isn't 3hrs and 42 min long enough????

As a side note, PLEASE everyone who sees it, DON"T give the ending/movie away for those who wish to but won't get to see it immediately, or at least put a disclaimer on your post if you wish to discuss specifics from the movie... just a side note from someone who reallly wants to see the movie but has to find a person to convince/drag to this movie (i.e. BS). Thanks ahead of time :)

I could probably convince him to go. It's just that he will fall asleep during the movie. He did during Matrix Reloaded. They simply aren't his type of movies.

Plus he has the easiest time falling asleep. It's crazy. One minute, he's talking to me and the next, he's out cold. Oh well, I'll live as long as someone on teh board doesn't give away the movie.

The movie was pretty cool.Although i did sleep for about 1 hour during the middle of it and woke up again close to the end.Pretty cool but dont you thinks its kinda guy frodo and the rest of the hobbits kept on touching and dancing with each other.Lets not forget the time when they were in bed together near the end.lol.Still pretty cool.Im looking forward to the 3 dvd set when it comes out.

Hey I've watched Ken Burns' Civil War twice,,,

Hmmm Jewel that could be a problem,,,Does he fall asleep at uh other times, you know when his attentions are needed???Maybe narcolepsy,,,VDC

hey jewel, golem, and frodo die at the end. lol

I saw Lord of the Rings last night and let me tell you it was AWESOME! Don't worry jewel, I won't get into any details. I will say it was by far the best in the series. It was supposedly 3hrs 42min long according to what was posted in Fandango when I bought the tickets. But I was only in the theatre for 3hrs 10 min. And I'd say only about 40 minutes of it was not action. The ending was great too. I did think the last 20 minutes was a bit unnecessary and drawn out but all in all it was a fantastic movie! I had to wait in line for a seat for 1 hr prior to the movie. And I still didn't get a great seat. But at least I wasn't stuck up front.
