low libido caused by bodybuilding?

I am 43 years old and have been working out hard and regular for over 25 years. I do not use AAS. When I was younger I could do a hard squat workout, come home and have no problem performing. When I turned 40, libido went down the tubes, yet I am still as strong and bigger then ever, abeit some aches and pain and bigger gut. Is weighlifting causing this lack of libido due to using up my test to keep my muscle? I had a my levels tested and all the doc said was that I was in the normal range. If this is just a part of getting old, I will accept that and move on. Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks

your aging.

cut back on the intensity and maybe frequency of your workouts. give it a bit to see how it feels.

come back if that doesnt help.

Thanks Joe,
I am taking a break right now and my joints are starting to feel better already. Libdo, not yet. But I wouldnt be surprised if it is just in my head. Also, I went to a doc who knows about this subject and he did a blood test. I will know the results this week.

alrighty then!

hear me now and believe me later...my age 48. been lifting since 70's. I been fighting low libido since your age. docs all said test normal...free test normal...everything else normal and healthy. so finall I went a doctor of enternal medicine. he did a re check of all the blood work..everything normal as it was 5 years ago. so he perscribes Wellbutrin. a neuro uptake inhibitor often prescribed for depression or for ADHD/ with prosexual side effects. Ta DA! i even feel my strenth returning.

Thanks, and very interesting. I really dont believe I could be low on test. I mean, how could I be as strong and more muscular then when I was 30, and be low on test? I asked the doctor and he said to wait for the test. Further, I know eventually libido has to go away, I just didnt think it could happen so soon.
Thanks again

Make sure to get a copy of your test results. And don't except the " your in the normal range"

Buck, I am going to do that.
Does my original question make sense to you veteran lifters? Can testosterone be diverted to the areas that it is needed and deprived in others?

ok, let me begin by saying I went to have my test levels checked by a doctor who claims to know all about this. I got his name off the web http://www.tuneupyourt.com/
My test levels were 404.
I asked about my free test levels and he paused and said, "404"' as if I did'nt hear him the first time. I looked at the print out and the free test was not taken. I then asked the doctor if my test levels were low and if it could cause the symptoms I descibed earlier. He said, "yes they are a little low, but this would have no bearing on how you feel, none." He added, "you know, Viagra can increase your libido". At that point I wanted to say no it does not, but out of respect I kept my mouth shut and just nodded. Next he said that anti-depressants do not cause erectile promblems and I should consider them. The conclusion after two visits and money lost from work and co pays, I am under stress and I need to relax. Anyone in this world free from stress? I have decided to keep lifting, give up on this testosterone replacement idea and just live my life.

Sorry about that. Any physician can be listed on that locator. Thye should have to pass a test or something first.
