Lowering TRT dose for doc...

OK, so went to my family doc to get a 2nd opinion on my rotator cuff. When we were done discussing that I asked if we could talk. He said sure whats up. I said I went to a TRT clinic for low T because the endo was dicking around. I asked if he prescribed testosterone and if he would consider treating me because the clinic is expensive. He said sure I treat a lot of folks. Asked me what level they have me at now. I said well doc, they have me high, 1353 ng/dl. He said WHOA! Thats high, id like to see you down to at least 900.

So heres where im at. I pin 140mg Test cyp/week. If I drop to 100mg/week will that get me close to 900 ng/dl? I would really like to get a prescription from my doc. Then I can go through Goodrx and get it cheaper. Once im at an acceptable level to satisfy him, and hes not requesting labs every 8 weeks, I can do what I want whether that be a cycle down the road or whatever. Ya know?

So what do ya think? Will 100mg get me down to 900 or below? Anyone else play that game to get your doc to prescribe? Thanks.

Or you keep the same 140mg and dont pin the week before you get your blood work done

Thought about that, but wasnt sure how id feel a week without pinning. Today was pin day so I just did .25ml(50mg) so guess ill see in a few weeks.

I think here it’s individual for everyone and it depends on how the body reacts to the Test. I have seen successful examples of low dosages.

We all respond differently. 175mg test u a week get me to 987ng/dl. 175 test u every 10 days puts me at 834 ng/dl. There’s no exact formula.
My endo wants it to find a dosage of 700ng/dl and stay there.

My doc prescribes my 180 per week. I take that normally., But starting 1 month before labs, I lower it to 160. This takes be down from 1660ish ng/dL to 1420 ng/dL or so very reliably. I know the doc is okay with me being above the normal range, but I think they would lower me if I was at 1660.

So I just lower my dose for a little bit before labs. I don't notice anything or feel difference, but it keeps the levels consistent for teh doc.

THere's no way to know for sure what amount of test will put you at what level. You just have to experiment with your own regimen and labs and find what works for you.

Testosterone REPLACEMENT Therapy is intended to restore physiologic rather than Supra-physiologic, as in cycling, levels.

To that end a value that exceeds the 99th percentile or roughly 1000ng/dl regardless of age, is unlikely to be considered TRT based upon existing medical guidelines.

In fact a number of “TRT clinics, Mens Health, and ED Awareness, etc” have been investigated and their doors shuttered bc of insufficient oversight or noncompliance with evidence based recommendations.

Ergo bc self prescribed testosterone supplemental therapy (AKA cycling) and physician prescribed TRT have differing objectives, keep the former out of your Docs office.

I find that cruise doses have a roughly linear relationship to total test levels.

For example, @MFAAS said that 180mg puts his total test at 1660 and 160mg puts his total test at 1420. Doing a bit of math: (160/180) * 1660 = 1475.56, which is close enough to 1420.

For you, the calculation would be (100/140) * 1353 = 966.43, which is fairly close to 900. If I were you I would play it safe, inject 90mg weekly, and give it 3 to 4 weeks for those levels to normalize (see steroidplotter for when you can expect normalization to occur). Be mindful the relation between when you will get blood drawn and when you will inject your testosterone, as that will influence the blood results.

This has been my experience as well. Things fluctuate a little, but I am lucky enough that I get about a 9x response (or slightly over) from my cruise dose when injected intramuscularly.

That's right, you need to try.

It will be necessary to try, a mathematical approach, for the sake of interest, but I doubt that it works so. It seems to me all the same takes place such as the susceptibility of the body to TEST.

So what did you end up doing???

And why do you need to bring it down? The way I read it, your doctor would bring it down once you transferred your treatment to him and his office from your dealer.

So he would just adjust the dose (not ask you to guess at it), take labs, and adjust again if needed to get you around 900 ng/dl.

And 900 nd/dl is high! You ought to feel great at that level.

So just transfer to him and let him control the process for a while, rather than you playing guess the dose with your internet bros.

I also do not understand why these experiments and questions, if there is a doctor who can and do everything correctly.

Taking 200 a week with HCG used to put me in the 1300s. I dropped the HCG that'll make your total go down a little bit if you're taking that and then I skipped a dose right before I went in for labs and it put me in the 900's. So if you want to play that game and get prescribed more just skip a dose and then like the day after a dose is due go have your doctor pull labs and you'll be a lot lower.

And pretty soon he will be prescribing you a gram to a gram and a half a week. Score!

I don’t understand the need to have a doctor prescribe you something you can get online. Why go through all the bullshit just to have a prescription? You can find out what works best for you. You can have your own bloods pulled, and can make any adjustments just like the doctor will do.
