MCT OIL; pharma grade ($$$$$) Vs without pharma grade label

Hi fellas,

I am gathering supplies for my first brew and am looking at MCT oil amongst other carriers.

Medical lab supplies is listing 100ml of pharma grade MCT oil for $25
MCT Oil 60/40 (Medium Chain Triglyceride), Pharmaceutical Grade | Med Lab Supply

where as amazon has 1000ml of organic MCT oil for $ 21.

Both are hexane free. What special process is there for pharma grade? And does it even matter if it is going to be filtered during the brewing process?

Thanks in advance for your inputs/comments.

Edit: one of the main reasons for me to homebrew is to control and use all ingredients of high quality so I will pay extra for quality ingredients without a doubt

Pharma grade would be USP and im assuming the other would be made most likely in a standard none sterile cleanroom or the equivalent of a food production facility.

Either way, you will be filtering the oil through a micron filter so it shouldn't matter too much. Most people here use NOW brand MCT and that's not produced in a USP facility.

in my experience it matters.

Can you filter lesser quality oil? Yes. Should, in theory, it be the same after filtration? Yes. Is it equal? No.

I have high quality mct that I have no crashing issues with. I have bulk average quality mct that gives me issues during the winter and will crystalize. They both pin smooth as hell and I have supreme confidence that it's a great product, but all things considered the high end mct is clearly better long term

The gallon is an even better deal for usp. I’m think I’m going to try this brand next time I purchase

Thank you for sharing your experience; just the type of post I was hoping for. USP/Pharmaceutical grade MCT oil it is and as well as other carriers/solvents like GSO, Mig840, and ethyl oleate that I am getting.
If you dont mind me asking, where do yo get your pharma grade carrier oils from?

I will be brewing the gear for personal use only. And once I get the recipe correct on small experimental batches, I will be brewing a year's worth of gear all at once so having the finished good not crash in winter is good; primo e will be the staple for me.

It looks to be a too good of a deal; a gallon of usp grade mct oil for $48. It's making me wonder if it is really legit pharma/usp grade oil.

Med lab but there are plenty of places to shop for it

The way I’m thinking is as long as it’s pure mct with no additives, it should at least be as good as the Now brand which is plenty good enough in my opinion. I guess I’ll find out next time I run low on mct

Here's another USP grade:

16oz for $20

Hey @TRT@40 if you can drink MCT oil, wouldn't that mean you wouldn't have allergic reaction from injection?
That is definately the case for me; i can drink mct oil and inject mct oil compounds. I dont know if that statement would hold true for masses...
But if someone has not tried mct oil compounds before, have to be little careful by injecting a small amount first, 0.25ml for example, that way if there is an allergic reaction, it would be small in a dose-dependant manner.
Are you trying to figure out if mct oil will give an allergic reaction or not?
