Clemens' name to be removed from Houston sports clinic

[SIZE=-1]But a year after being linked to steroid use, the former Astro apparently no longer sells in his hometown the latest evidence being Memorial Hermann's decision to drop his name from its sports medicine institute, beginning Thursday.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]The Houston-based health system is making the move "to better reflect its commitment to all sports and athletes," according to a statement from Memorial Hermann. Spokeswoman Ann Brimberry would not say that the decision was related to Clemens' highly publicized problems.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]Clemens' agent, Randy Hendricks, could not be reached for comment.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]Memorial Hermann established the Clemens Institute for Sports Medicine and Human Performance at the Texas Medical Center in 2006, hoping to capitalize on the consummate power pitcher's reputation for intense conditioning.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]At the time, Clemens and Memorial Hermann CEO Dan Wolterman said they hoped the institute would become the destination of choice for professional and recreational athletes. The center would conduct sports-specific research and treatment and offer advice on nutrition and training programs under one roof.[/SIZE]
