Meso Book Club

Any of you guys have any recommendations for a crime series/ character? I have been through all the Harry Bosch stories by Michel Connolly as well as the Jack reacher stories by Lee child. Looking for another character with some numbers behind them. Getting sick of having to wait for the next books to come out

I love the Reacher series and I think you’ll enjoy the Amos Decker series from David Baldacci.

Dark tower series Stephan king. wheel of time series robert Jordan.

I’ve started and stopped the Dark Tower series at least 3 times that I can think of. Could not get past the first hundred pages of just walking and walking. I’ll have to give it a shot again someday.

I’m almost certain I’ve read at least the first book in the wheel of time series but after just reviewing the cast of main characters I’m not so sure. Perrin sounds familiar but not the others...

thank you!

The first Dark Tower book is really slow. It really picks up in the second and from then on. I'm on my fourth time through the series currently.

Wheel of Time is kinda the same, but it's even slower. You really have to like that kind of fantasy to get into it and I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. That name does sound familiar though...

;):) Can’t quite place where I’ve seen it though...

I started book two yesterday. Really enjoying it.

It's a toss up for which book is best in my opinion
I won't spoil anything but the last quarter of book 2 is awesome.
And that series is awesome in that my favorite character changes with every book as well as every time I re read them lol.

I'm actually happy to hear that Lee Child is turning the reigns of the Reacher series over to his son. The last 3 or 4 books have been really lack luster in my opinion. The latest book about the Ukrainians and Albanians started so good though and then it seemed like he lost interest about halfway and it became kinda campy and predictable. I suspect his son may have been heavily involved in the recent books so I'm also a little nervous to incase he was the reason they were what they were.

I read a couple Jack Reacher books when I was locked up. One called Camel Club by David Baldacci as well. They're outside my normal genres, but both were good.

I haven’t been through all of them yet but have read about half (10-11 if memory serves) so that’s good to know. Thanks for saving me the trouble! I might still get to them but I got a little Reacher’d out.

Of course man if you read that many you gotta finish it out someday. The last 4 aren't the worst books I've ever read they just were so far short of what the first 2/3 of the series but I have no regrets about spending the time reading them like I have some books in the past.

I really liked all of them, some where better than others. The last four don't stand out to me as worse than the others. I really like the Bosch book by Micheal Connolly

That series is super intriguing to me. I’m frequently tempted to watch the Amazon series but I’d rather read the books first.
