I cannot buy it in NY. How do you get passed this?

i bought 200$ in monero and tried morphtoken it did not work. I used changelley but it took 50 dollars in fees.

Also morphtoken did not work using tor.

Anybody know what can be done?

looking to buy monero or exchange bitcoin for it with less fees.

Decrypt had an article saying Morphtoken is no longer doing bitcoin? The main article was about WHM.

Dang $50 in fees seems high unless you are a real baller. Maybe try one of those other swap sites like coinswitch, ShapeShift, or similar to trade one coin for another?

Coinswitch is a good option, there is also Godex.io

Godex say they are anonymous - "Exchange anonymously any volume with guaranteed fixed rate". They are recommend on DNM but i think coinswitch has better rates by slightly ever so much

I'm not an expert but TOR basically bounces you around for, I believe, 3 hops to different locations before you land at your destination.

A VPN will allow you to appear to be in whatever area you set it to. You can choose about anywhere the vpn has servers set up around the world and that is what your ip address will show.

If buying and selling monero is legal and easy in a specific region, it would make sense to appear to be from that region.

I use proton vpn personally and it seems to work well. If you haven't used it before, I think you get a free week of using all there servers around the world. After that, you can still use the free version but you have less countries available to use.

I believe you have to use TOR to access the darknet. If you pay for the premium version of proton vpn, you can run a vpn while also using TOR, which would provide more anonymity.

ProtonVPN offers a free version as well as paid versions that are faster and have other benefits such as being able to run TOR at the same time.

They give you a free trial of one of their paid versions and then it will turn to the free version if you don't want to pay.

Likely because they can keep track of btc and monero is privacy oriented and not supposed to be traceable but I've heard that may not be the case anymore.

To keep the poor and stupid dependent on them, this is why despite having higher wages and being a “progressive” blue state you see a shit ton of homeless and people leaving the state. Bitcoin takes power away from the govt and gives it back to the working class or just investors like me. Bitcoin has potential to destroy the welfare class and wealthy stock holders, you know why billionaire only seem to get richer every time the stock market crashes? Because the feds distribute printed money to giant financial institutions like banks pensions funds hedge funds etc calling it quantitive easing where they pump money into the stock market making the rich even richer while the rest of the population takes the inflationary hit.

Another thing I failed to mention earlier. From what I understand, some internet service providers get weird, whatever that means, about using TOR, as it is viewed more as a tool for illegal activities.

VPNs are not looked at as harshly and are also a lot faster than TOR and are likely, enough anonymity for guys who are buying personal amounts of gear, monero, etc.

Using both together is better. Using the above with Tails operating system is getting really stealthy.

I am sure they have even better shit that I am unaware of but, depending on what you're getting into, you should take the proper precautions.

And one more thing. Your isp knows when you connect to the TOR network but not what you are doing while connected.

Yes! I think it is best to use normal VPN and then use TOR Browser. If you use ProtonVPN or NordVPNs VPNtoTOR option you lose the privacy benefits of the tor browser.

The tor browser has a lot of features in it that protects you from tracking, it spoofs a lot of data.

I agree it is best to use a vpn and then tor browser though, using tor alone feels like you're admitting to doing a crime
