1-1/2 inch deficit deads 3x285, 2x335, 1x385, 1x435, 1x485, 0x520
dead hang pull ups 3x10
low pulley row 3x10 250

520 wasn't to be today but overall I'm happy with this session as whatever tweak I've had on the right side of my lower back was gone today.

I would have ranked this as really bad after the initial benching but I will move it to just bad after the accessory work and added long paused benches.

Program called for 3x3 370-380. I knew I couldn't triple even 370 more than once, if that, so I decided to do 5 paused doubles at the top end at 380. Almost missed the second rep on the third double. So changed to a one-board and again struggled to lock out the second rep. Decided to add the slingshot and two hard singles at 415 was all I could take.

Accessory work was supposed to be 1 set of 20 reps on dips and tate presses. I was so pissed off at the benching I added 90 pounds on the dips instead of a single 45. Didn't think I could get 20 but I managed to get it done.

Decided to do some very long paused doubles at 325 and was happy with how they moved after 5 second pauses.

You seem disappointed, but it looks to me like you still had a pretty good session. 20 dips at BW plus 90 aint to shabby either.
Some days the lifts just dont happen and im sure you know this, so i would just move on and get it next time.

Thanks Mr. B. I was disappointed I couldn't get all doubles at 380 but I haven't done a meet yet where I have to do doubles so onward and upward.

I know those numbers aren't great. My deadlift is a constant work in progress. The funny thing is in the national rankings I'm in virtually the same position both benching and deadlifting. I think that just proves a lot of us middle age guys are pretty good at benching and deadlifting is a bit tougher.

The climb to a 600 pound deadlift has been slow but I still think I will get there.

Jesus, you didn't think the sweet personality and beautiful body were enough to drive me crazy already so you had to mention your ex is 21 years older than you! I'm 49:).
 
I really want to do some GHR's, but my gym doesn't have one. You ever try them off a lat pull down machine or some other DIY version? I'm about to try something like that.

I've seen them done like that but have never tried it. I can definitely feel them in my hamstrings but I'm not really convinced they do a whole lot. But since I bought the thing I am going to continue using it.
 
Ok MP, what are paused deadlifts? Another thing i should probably know but don't.

What Perrin said. I am pausing them right off the floor. I'm trying to work on staying in a good position body position off the floor as I have a tendency to let my body get too far out in front of the bar. Also allows to concentrate on making the sure the bar is directly against my shins on the way up.
 
Christ that last post looks like I must be buzzed at a minimum and maybe completely drunk. Unfortunately I'm completely sober so I don't know what the hell my excuse is other that I just read some of the pharmacom thread where the constant stupidly always leaves me in a bit of fog for a while after leaving.

Knees felt a bit better than usual today at least going in. This was all they wanted though. Just trying to get enough squatting in to support my deadlift

I know what you mean MP, i made the mistake of reading the PC thread while i was in town and because of the extreme IQ loss, it took me 2 days to find my way home[emoji15]
 
If i want to feel smart i go to the pharmacom thread and read a few pages. In minutes i usually feel like i really am not that dumb. Some of the crap that goes on is amazing. I'm waiting for someone to post a credit card number one of these days. I think that is about the only information guys haven't posted in the open in that thread.

All reps were paused and a few of them were struggles although I never thought I wasn't going to lock one out. Ready to switch to Bulgarian at the end of next week and start hitting the daily heavy singles. Haven't been overly pleased with the way the recent doubles and triples work has gone.
