Multivitamin? Is there good, better,best?

So I recently realized with a comment from my PCP that while I take supplements I do not take a multivitamin. He advised me it wouldn't be a bad idea so I wanted to see what brands people liked, if anything in particular mattered more in terms of multis, is there a good better best (besides spending more = more better!) or just pick one and go?

Thanks!

I'm using "one per day" from Life Extension which is pretty decent and easy to find through iHerb. I've used Adam from now foods, one from Carlson's and couple years with Optimen from Optimum Nutrition. I just go with whatever i can get my hands to, it's affordable and from a reputable brand. Thorne like the other guy mentioned is probably the best supplement company but you need to take a loan if you plan relying on their supplements. It's too much for my budget.

I order direct from Thorne. I've read too many stories of counterfeit stuff on Amazon.

Wise choice. Nearly 60% of supplements are mislabeled whether it's the ingredients or dosages. Since it's not an FDA tested / regulated industry, companies can and will sell you capsules full of whatever powder they want and have no reason to stop until they get caught and sued for it.

To answer the original question - yes. Multivitamin is gonna be beneficial to everyone alive. Even with a well balanced diet, our food is deprived of nutrients from the way its grown, the hormones, the shipping, freezing, storage, etc.

How old are you? That's a factor. Nutrient needs change over time for reasons including changes in the ability to absorb certain substances.

40s :D not ready for those silvers.

I've tried many over the years, and been satisfied with these for almost a decade now. You can "feel" it like a very mild stimulant. Because of their high profile, GNC is reasonably reliable vs some lesser brands.

I think this 2 tab a day multi strikes a reasonable balance between insufficient single tab "grocery store" multis, and gonzo $3/day 6 tablet combos.

One tip. These are available at Sam's club in store or internet for $19 (on frequent sale) for 180 tabs (90 day supply), much less than the $35+ charged elsewhere. If you're not a member, the saving on four of these a year pays for it.

That vitamin is loaded and cheap af… usually find it on one of the nutrition sites for 10-19 per bottle and buy it up when on sale…

I just took my Sentry. I take additional vitamins/minerals individually, but I've been slacking on that for a couple of months now.

Wow thanks a ton! Going to jump in on the reading!

I buy these and i think they are pretty awesome helped keep my test levels up as well… its the only thing ive added once i went off test 10 yrs ago

Multivitamins are generally a scam — underdosed on the things that matter most, and can have unnecessarily high (harmful) doses of other vitamins. I try to look at my diet and figure out the things I am for sure lacking in, and supplement those things individually. I don’t like the “one size fits all” approach to medicine that is prevalent in this world, as our deficiencies/needs can vary so greatly. These things should be looked at on an individual basis imho.

Order a vitamin panel and see exactly what you're short on. Most people who care about their diet are fine already. Even the average American eating garbage is only short on D and C. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a vitamin merchant.
