My fellow gun people

That's the shit I wanna get into one day! Reaching out and touching something a 1/4 or 1/2 mile away! To me that's some top notch skills there. I guess if you have enough money anything is possible. Even divorce lol my wife doesn't understand. Each time I buy a new gun she says what's wrong with the other ones? I say nothing I just don't have this one yet.:D
My wife hates on my love for guns as well. I told her she knew when we first hooked up, that i loved guns. I keep telling her she will thank me one day, if shit ever hits the fan I'm pretty well stocked. Anyhow, nowadays i don't tell her about my purchases. The family always comes first money wise, but if i got a extra every once and awhile I'll order some more ammo.

good ol' workhorse

I was thinking of a H&K PSG, but they are too expensive, who knows if parts will remain available as I like to shoot a lot.

If you were asked to answer the same question about a semi-auto 7.62/.308 but with more of a sniper/marksman mindset, not as much a survivalist (hopefully not Soldier of Fortune lol, no pun intended ya know)
which one would you recommend?

I was wondering why just .223/5.56? (no offense)
Why not at least .270 Win ?
Do you like to shoot full-auto?

I personally like the .270 a lot
I tried a Win-win situation lol
Winchester rifle on .270 Winchester ammo, didn't work as well as a Remington rifle (7400)
Just for joy I'd like to find a well-built 50 round or drum magazine and fire 50 rounds nonstop to see if it jams or badly overheats. Done that with the 10 round magazine and it works fine.

What's your take on red-dot + green-laser sight?
I've heard they are better aimed differently
i.e. laser zeroed perfectly (no elevation whatsoever and taking into account the distance between the laser axis and the barrel), while red dot aimed to some elevation?

The PSG is major cool, but I don't like that platform too much. Also, it's really pricey.

I think there are numerous more modern guns that are better. And easier to clean - the HK has too many nooks and crannies, you can spend hours cleaning it and it will still dirty a white glove, if you know what I mean.

They're very expensive! Hk makes some great guns, i am a sucker for them. I have a usc 45 carbine that is probably my favorite gun to shoot.

I used to be able to rip a G3 apart and put it back together in under a minute - and not much slower blindfolded. It's just not a good design for heavier rounds, has a nasty kick, creaky trigger, unless of course you start throwing parts at it. It's built to be a service rifle that keeps firing no matter what, it's not intended as an MOA rifle. Sure, you can soup up a Chevy and race it on the Nurburgring but it's not what it's designed for.

All of the above said, I would still love to have a PSG, they're too damn cool. :-)

I can still strip an AR down and put it back together in 37 seconds. Looking into buying an AR chambered for 7.62, as well as an AK. Love it or hate it, I've shot a lot of them, and I've never once had an issue with any of them. Things also take a SHIT TON of thermite to melt. Fuckers are built to last.

@HIGHRISK How did you get the SW shipped to your door? Anytime I've bought rifles/pistols online I've had to pick them up at a licensed dealer locally.

No love for the AR platform either, it feels too Mickey Mouse. As does the AK, sure it works, but I can't bring myself to like it. They're both super easy to shoot though.

I'd like an FN FAL myself.

An M&P for 369? Fuck, that's only like 20- more than the shield!!!! That's about 100- cheaper than I've seen that gun go for at local retailers
I got a 40cal M&P off of gunsamerica.com for $355 here about a year ago. It was a le turn in an picked it up dirt cheap. Haven't had an issue wirh it yet an wanting to put a NCStar green tactical laser on it as soon as i get a few extra bucks ahead.

M-14 bro. Awesome rifle that has found its way back into issue serving as a sniper rifle with SEAL teams, USAF STT, and even reg army units. Scoped you're looking at an affective range around 850-900 yards. Great weapon.

I hear ya. I think FN make a M4 variant that was pretty nice.
I've shot a lot of weaponry over the years by I keep coming back to the AR. Used it for years, it just feels natural for me. I used to hate them, but the things work. Not a fan of 5.56 though.

Just doesn't put down a cracked out cave dweller like the movies depict.
LMAO. No it doesn't. Did you ever see Lone Survivor? During the initial battle. Taliban going down from leg and hip shots. LOL. 2 in the chest wasn't enough sometimes. But I also don't like the 7.62. I like an intermediary round. Which I believe is what H+K is working on.

No. Read the book on CQ once, don't really remember it. all I know is.... Rangers > SEALs

What's wrong with the 7.62/.308? Especially these days, with opponents wearing body armor, I think it's a great round.

The 5.56/.223 is an intermediate round...

H+K is working on a round right now that will split the difference. I'll speak only from my experience where I saw almost no enemy wearing body armor over 5 deployments. I think 7.62 is a great round for sniping. But put into a full auto assault rifle I feel it becomes very inaccurate vs say a 5.56. And against no body armor it's flying right through you. I'd much rather be shot with a 7.62 then 5.56. Although I'd prefer not being shot at all. I love the M-14 and it's 7.62 as a sniper weapons system. I don't like the 7.62 if we're talking about using that round as an assault rifle.

Idk if I could knock 20lbs off the 240 and not need 3 fucking people to operate it.... I would love it. Saw the 240 tear apart everything. Cars, walls, brick homes, trees. It's a beast.

Would love that round in a rifle.

Completely agree bud. But like you said how do we make it a 1 man show. It does chew through shit. It keeps your fukin head down.
