Hi all, trying insulin for the first time. Will be checking fasted blood glucose in morning and throughout the day for some weeks before starting.
-Planning on starting 2iu pharma GH for few weeks before starting insulin
-Plan is to run Novolog both pre and post workout
-Starting with 5iu insulin, slowly increasing from there
-Using 10g carb for every 1iu insulin, will carefully reduce to maybe 7g carb to 1iu insulin
-Carrying glucose pills on body in case of emergencies
All I have are old forum posts to go off of, I don't have a coach that I can get feedback from.
The protocol below is a result of copy and pasting from other posts. (Mutant protocol , other protocols)
I'd like to ask experienced users to give feedback please.
Let me know if anything is missing, if anything should be changed.
PRE-WORKOUT:
-15 min before workout: pin 5iu Novolog
-10 min before workout: Drink Shake #1 (20g PeptoPro, 50g Karbolyn/Vitargo, 5g creatine, 10g glutamine)
-During workout: Sip on Shake #2 (20g PeptoPro, 50g Karbolyn/Vitargo, 5g creatine)
-Is there a step missing here??? A shake/meal needed?
POST-WORKOUT:
-pin 5iu Novolog
-pin + 5 min: drink Shake #3 (50g Karbolyn/Vitargo, 20g PeptoPro, 5g creatine)
-pin + 15 min: drink Shake #4 (60g whey isolate)
-pin + 60 min: eat a protein/carb meal with zero fat
Questions:
1. When to take gh?
-I've heard to pin gh in the morning before fasted cardio and not to eat anything for 1 hour
-I've read to pin gh a little before pinning insulin pre-workout
-I've read to pin gh before bed
2. Time on slin and time off? Do I run slin for 4 weeks then do 4 weeks off while taking metformin/berberine? I've had a 'coach' tell me that I don't even need to come off...but I know insulin desensitization is real
3. Should I pin insulin sub-q or IM? I know it's meant to be pinned sub-q and I've read that IM can mess with the timing?
Please let me know if any of the supplements above are incorrect, or could be replaced with something better, or if any crucial steps are missing, if there is anything you would do differently.
Thank you!
First off I haven't used Novalog but I can tell you what I've learned thru trial and error.
First no insulin until running GH long enough high enough that fasted sugars kind of stick to about 100 give or take maybe 10.
From there start a combo of lantus and I guess log. I'm not sure exactly how much they differ.
I started with 30ius lantus in the am and went up 10ius a day until I hit 70 and I've stayed there. I'm not diabetic so I'm not looking for lantus to do all the work.
From there I pin small amounts of humulin throughout the day before meals. Maybe 3 or 4 small shots a day. 5ius at a time. This is where lantus helps. I tried larger doses of humulin without it and was always anxious and stuffing my face out of fear. But lantus is somewhat less of a risk and it makes 5ius humulin really shine. I pin humulin and make some food, not really trying to match carbs to slin but the other way around. I eat what I'm planning and use the slin as a boost (it rocks) and also to.keep my sugar steady with the GH.
I TRIED those stupid pre and pwo shakes and slin and I got fat as fuck FAST. I dont think they work.
The idea as I practice is to use reasonable amounts of slin to enhance everything else I'm doing. And its made a difference.
Small warning if you do things my way remember I eat very very often. If i oversleep I wake up in mild hypo which isn't really dangerous but I have gone hypo all my life naturally. I'm used to functioning with low blood sugar. Most people freak out and stuff their face and that you don't want to do
I feel insulin is a very personal thing and no one can write you xyz protocol and it will be ideal. If you start off on the right foot and learn your body as you go you will be happy with the results.
The biggest danger with slin besides overeating is stacking lantus with log and getting wreckless. Your body can handle a decent amount of.log and you might go hypo but you will produce glucagon and be fine HOWEVER and this is important if you also have a big dose of lantus in your.body let's say you pin 100ius or more you could end up fucked when lantus is gobbling up all the glucagon and you slip into a coma.
If I were you i would team up with someone to watch over you and take a decent size shot of log say 15ius and make yourself hypo and learn to recognize when trouble is starting and teach yourself to function. Have someone with you at all times with some sugar water glucose tabs or whatever. Because when blood sugar drops you tend to feel tired and unable to think younsweat and at some point will want to fall asleep. Which could be very bad.
BTW the rewards are worth it. Just be smart and PATIENT. Do not rush this shit be smart and its worth it.
