I went running for the first time in a while and found that my former problem on hip flexors cramping up was fixed by some new shoes and orthotics and stretching them every day. But now my lower back gets blown up and makes me push my stomach out and pull my shoulders back. I was thinking I could strengthen my abs to compensate but need to stear clear of working my hip flexors too much. Or maybe I just need to run more to get ym body used to it again. well any experience or advice is appreciated.

thanks,

Thats a tricky one,so you can't exercise you abs for fear of aggrevating you hip problem.
Just how big is that stomach?
How about cutting down on the beer consumpion:)
Maybe lose a bit around the beam before you get into the running too much, there are other aerobic exercisers that are less stressfull on the body........
If you really must go for these "runs" prehaps rub a bit of tigerbalm on the problem area first, about half hour before you go,just dont play with your loneyboy while you're waiting for it to work.
And one more thing, real bodybuilders don't run, they don't need to!

The stomach is definitely not too big. They aren't ripped but you can make out the outline of the abdominals. The tiger balm is a good idea though. I will try that. Well I am more of a power lifter not a body builder. I work out for strength and am planning on starting the fire academy in November and need to get myself on good cardiovascular shape.
