New Cash App feature!

i just noticed that Cash App now has a new way for those with incompatible banks/debit cards to fund their account.

Click on the 1st icon (home) on the bottom left, scroll down and you'll see Paper Money. It appears that it's much like buying a pre-paid phone card. Go to a participating store, pay in cash and get a receipt with a barcode. Scan it and your account is funded.

From there you use that cash in the account to buy BTC. Keep in mind that you still need to be verified through Cash App to purchase BTC. This new option only removes the bank/debit card from the buying equation.

Then who gaf lol? Time to retire btc tbh

Who? Everyone that has been verified, but still can't buy BTC because they don't have a checking account or a bank account. i didn't have either for the longest time. This would have been extremely helpful a few years ago.

As technology goes, it will eventually become obsolete, but i don't think that will happen anytime soon.

Ok what you say makes sense. My qualm is that generally btc is way too traceable just on the blockchain alone to be using willy nilly (like it already is). I'd be wary of getting btc that requires verification

There's hardly any exchange that will let you buy bitcoin with NO ID really. ALL exchanges that deal with US citizens anywhere in the world are required by the IRS to perform AML and KYC verifications.

Some countries in the EU also have some sort of verification requirement as well.

Some atms require just sms, so...you know

Yes that's correct. They require that as part of the verification measures. You get a code and then you enter it at ATM to verify it's you.

In USA it's hard to activate a cellphone without any sort of verification.

Anybody try this yet?

I once tried to link a small credit union's debit card with Cash App and it was declined but one from a major bank was accepted.

Are you able to pay for voucher in store using credit/debit card or they accept only cash?

I put money on cash app at the 7/11, bought btc, then tried to go shopping today. Cash app refused to send the btc without submitting photos of my drivers license and selfies to prove my identity. I do not recommend this app.

Exchanges are forced by law to collect that info, sadly. Greedy Government pigs want to make sure they can tax any gains you make with crypto.
